The Doorway: a panfandom game

(So, I think I'm coming down with something, and I went to bed at like nine. Which is why I'm now awake at 4 in the morning. So, I thought I'd put this up. Last night there were two meetings, one at the X-Mansion, followed by one at the Avengers, both dealing with the same thing: the fact that individuals with newly developed powers have started springing up all over the place.

I'm just going to put down a few of the talking points that I've noticed already discussed in netposts, which can be added to or expanded on in this entry in IC/OOC comments about what your characters would have talked about or deemed important at both meetings.)

X-Men Meeting

⨂ How involved the Avengers should be - for obvious reasons, the X-Men are wary of Avengers involvement when dealing with an influx of newly-powered, possible mutants. While they've somewhat concluded that working with the Avengers on this is necessary, unavoidable and probably beneficial -- it's still not their favourite.

⨂Cerebro - Rachel Summers, Hank McCoy and Charles Xavier spent the afternoon attempting to identify unique cerebral activity for those with emerging powers, to use Cerebro as a means of identifying and locating these individuals, in much the same way it was used before to locate mutants. While they're having moderate success, this isn't information that will be brought up at the Avengers meeting.

⨂ Fuck the Avengers - Magneto reiterates that he hates talking to people. About things.

Avengers Meeting

Α X-Men Take Centre Stage - Given the X-Men experiences regarding all aspects of this issue, Tony Stark wanted them to lead most of the discussions at the Avengers meet, if they were willing, which they were. (If anyone wants to write up Mutant testimonials, that'd be cool)

Α No Registration - The X-Men would have been pretty insistent on how things like keeping records of these individuals and their powers, registration, segregation etc could be harmful and are just generally a bad idea forever.

Α Genetics or Calling of the Star Brand - While he left some of the details out of the discussion, Bruce Banner would have brought up that the White Event back home Superpowered up one individual known as the Star Brand, and that this White Event could have done something similar; somewhat suggesting that this might not be a mutation specifically, but he would have admitted that genetics or not, the issue remains basically the same.

Two things.

One. Has anyone seen the Doctor? I mean the Doctor that fancies bow-ties. He's left to travel a bit before, but I was hoping he'd at least tell someone that he'd be gone. I went to check his room, the door's locked.

Two. I seem to have acquired some sort of ability. I've been doing tests for the Doctor all weekend, mind you. Barely have had time to sleep and eat. Which apparently isn't saying a lot because I have more energy than I used to. It's some sort of new strengthen agility. Let's just say that if I could do this when I was a kid, I wouldn't have gotten the bronze in gymnastics.

And, more importantly, how are you? It can't have been easy, doing what you did. But we do what we must to protect our families.

Subway announcements, although annoying, needn't be unbearable; mind the gap, for instance, is civilizing without being scolding. Pithy without being silly.

But if I have to hear courtesy is contagious, and it starts with you one more time, I will put my umbrella in someone's eye. See how far courtesy gets you

I've been reading the book for the Potts Tower book club and it's really enjoyable. I think this may be an excellent way to catch up with new reading that's been published more recently. If you haven't come, you should pick up a copy of the Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and his years of Pilgrimage and come next Tuesday night. We're still discussing the last part of it then.

I received a letter today. From Lord Anthony Baskerville. I am now convinced that anyone who goes by the name Anthony is not ever meant to be a kindred spirit, nor even a sympathetic one. (I don't count any Tony Stark in this generalization, for one simple reason: they are known as Tony and seem to be, overall, quite the sort of person I would ask over for tea. They, at least, are sympathetic and are not at all like the Anthonys of the world, who are all disagreeable.)

This man -- this Lord Baskerville -- had the NERVE to ACCUSE me of STEALING. And what did he accuse me of stealing, you may ask?

A DOG. I, Anne Shirley, am accused of stealing a greyhound from this person's establishment. And he names you all as "accomplices"! He even puts that word in quotations, just like that. "Accomplices". He CLAIMS that other guests of the Redfern heard a dog from MY ROOM the night we all stayed there.

He wants a reply. I promise, he will get one. OH YES. He will get one.
