The snow is lovely. The city sparkles in glittery crystals and it's beautiful to look at. I have enjoyed, immensely, the change of scenery the snow gives to us. It is a lovely thing.

I've been reading a lot since I got here. There are just so many books we did not have back home. I've decided that this quote, by I do not know who, is probably the best in reference to books:

Things have been relatively quiet over the last few weeks. Life is settling down. I have the best roommate ever. I've enjoyed spending time with him and settling into life here. I am growing to love this city - even if it's full of things that bother me in some fashion.

Have you heard back from SHIELD at all?

I am pleased to have spent the last few weeks getting comfortable with my new roommate, and enjoying the comforts this city has to offer. I have spent time with friends, namely Regulus and Regina, and am content with how things are moving along here. I have no doubt soon I shall find work - I am not used to this level of creature comforts and miss those that I have at home. I have to work hard to get them here, but that is alright.

I am slowly learning things about this city, and I am not sure how much I truly understand. It's dirty, grimy, dark but also fun, lively and there's much to do. It's a city and that's all I can ever hope for. It's home now, and it's hard to imagine I have been here a month and change already! I am happy enough.

If you took off the ridiculous hat and ignored the disgusting tattoos, this could be me and my daughter, Naleada. She was about this small when I was pulled here. Naleada is much prettier than the girl in this Muggle picture and why don't people move in Muggle photos? So strange, though I'm sure every parent feels that way about their child.

Someone had posted about visiting some children and playing with them - if there are babies that need to be held, I'd like to come along.

Does anyone else out there have family they miss terribly?

It takes watching your greatest regrets and deepest longings playing out on a television screen to make you realize how much you wanted something. Even if I can't believe it was sincere.

I've hardly had a day since I arrived where I can walk unnoticed through the streets. But today has to have been the worst to date. No sooner would I have escaped a crowd of fangirls than I'd walk right into another. Most just wanted to talk about the show and where it would be going but one asked me to sign her phone. Without much thought I agreed if only to get away from them all faster to then find out that her phone case was this:

Word of the Day: ziggurat\ZIG-uh-rat\ noun: an ancient Mesopotamian temple tower consisting of a lofty pyramidal structure built in successive stages with outside staircases and a shrine at the top; also : a structure or object of similar form.

I find that word to be interesting. In old texts, Assyrian mostly I believe, there was a word in the language of Akkadian, "ziqqurratu", which was meant to describe towering Assyrian temples. I find ancient history fascinating, if only ancient history of the words.

I look at some structures we have built and wonder what people of older civilizations would have thought of them. Although I suppose now, with the Tesseract and such, we can ask people from different times what they think of our structures, do they please the eye?

When I was growing up and felt lost, I turned to learning to adjust my thinking and comfort myself. I find myself doing that here, as well.

I am not entirely sure if any of you are planning to attend the Potts Tower Christmas get together or not, but if not, I plan on cooking a good meal and providing wine for any one who wishes to stop by and get away from the literal horde of Potters and Weasleys and the like. I figured, a nice quiet little Christmas for ourselves would be a lovely chance to get caught up here.
