New York City's Gay Pride week is coming up in a couple of months. It starts with a Rally on June 28th and finished with the Parade on the 30th. Julie and I are at the very least planning on attending everything we can and have asked for those days off of work. For those of you who are also interested in going you should get your time off requests in early! We're planning on meeting in the lobby of Potts Tower every morning at 9:30 to go over as a group. Then we can all split up and enjoy as we like!

But! We were thinking that it might be kind of brilliant for us to be represented in the gay pride parade somehow. I am honestly hoping for a float, but we need to see what kind of interest we have first. If not enough people are interested in working on a float then we can always put together a group to march. Please let me know if you're interested in doing either of those things for the parade and I'll see if we have enough interest to do a float or not.

It's no secret that a lot of us here are from wildly different times, backgrounds, worlds, etc. No doubt that has more than likely left a few of you with questions about this particular time and place. Some people are lucky enough to have good friends here to explain things, or the courage to pose their questions to the network at large. Others might not be. And for those people, I'd like to offer some help.

For anyone who doesn't know me, my name is Emmeline Vance. I may not know everything about this place, but I've spent a lot of my time here attempting to educate myself. I like to consider myself pretty level headed and generally very grounded. If you have anything that's been niggling at you but you aren't sure who to talk to, talk to me. I'll talk about anything. Sorcery, homosexuality, civil rights, women's rights, war, peace, love, hate... (the only think I won't discuss is reality television programming, because I will never understand that.) I won't be offended by anything you ask, and I'll do my best to help you find the answers you're looking for. No promises that we'll actually find the answers, of course. Some things may never have an answer. But it never hurts to ask, right? At any rate, have at it! Feel free to talk with me here, or I can also be bribed with coffee and/or wine if you'd like to speak in person.

I was going to write some reflections about how I've been here nearly three months now (one more week!) and about what I've learned so far, but then I stumbled upon a picture of the actress I look like and I got a little distracted.

I want that dress. So jealous she went to the Vanity Fair after-Oscars party too, ugh.

So just finished reading the book I'm in, finally. As weird as it was reading the stuff from my point-of-view, it was even weirder reading stuff from the people I know. Like now I know how Jericho's stuck on me, and I think I am too at the end?? That's just great- And then like, there are even people I don't know, but I'm weirdly connected to and stuff. Like this one guy came to my Uncle's museum and then just bolted out one day, had no clue who he was, but apparently he's a big character in the book too and is all goofy for one of my friends. Who woulda thought.

It was pretty alright reading though, over all.

In other news, the talk show people had stuff about the presidents on today for Presidents Day. Pretty jazzed that not only will there be an Irish-Catholic president, but that he'll be ranked the number two sexiest president of all time. Not really sure why Teddy Roosevelt came in first though...

Hey everyone!

We all know that Valentine's Day is coming up. How could we possibly forget? The media won't let us and if you're like me then you don't have anyone special to spend the day with. I thought it would be nice if those of us who wanted to got together and did something fun. We can provide support for each other on Valentine's Day proper and maybe go out and have some fun? Hey, you never know who you're going to meet! What do you guys say?

SOMEONE asked me along to the Calvin Klein show for NY Fashion Week.

I just have one really big question: what does it mean if it's on Valentine's Day? Nothing? I've never I kind of thought this wasn't serious enough for Valentine's Day, so I have no idea what is going on or if he's just being clueless, which is fine, it's just confusing.

I've got zero idea what's actually happening in this game right now, but I'm fairly certain I've just seen my future husband and at least five future ex-boyfriends.

Gryffindor Girls reunion tour today, ladies. In honour of our beautiful Lily's 18th birthday, we're going out to lunch and getting ourselves into a little trouble. We can't let the boys have all the fun.

Have you got any plans yet for tonight? It's Lily's birthday and Potter managed to do one or two things right and set up a surprise party for her. Why don't you come join us? The boys are decorating the flat to look like the Gryffindor Common room. You'll love it.

Katie and I have visiting all of these rescues trying to find the perfect dog for us, but we can't seem to agree on one together. If she thinks one is cute then I don't want it because it's not pathetic enough. Actually, that sounds horrible, but I want to give a home to a dog that really needs it. If anyone has any recommendations for pounds or rescues let me know! Or even if you just know of a dog that needs a good home.

Julie and I have been working to put together our first LGBT plus meeting and got the rec room on the 13th floor reserved for Friday night at 6pm. It's just a little get together so we can all start getting to know each other. There will be light refreshments and tons of socializing so please stop by if you are interested! It's an open invitation to anyone who is LGBT friendly so if you know of anyone else who might like to come, let either of us know and we'll be sure there is enough room for them.

We made it on Friday night so we can all go out together on the town afterwards if we want. We can split off into groups or go all together. We'll see how it goes!

I feel like it's damn near impossible to keep up with all the new arrivals around this place. If I haven't met you around the building or here on the network... Hello! I'm Emmeline Vance. I'm a witch, and I've been here exactly 48 days. I'm always happy to chat if you're ever in need of company.

Katie, can we adopt a dog? It can be small and I swear I'll take good care of it so you won't even have to lift a finger. And we'll get one that doesn't shed. I wash dogs five days a week and it's really making me want one of my own.

I got a job. I was wandering around the city yesterday and I found a bakery by that big park. Central Park? It's just a little shop that's been run by the same family for a long time, but the owners are getting older and their kids didn't want to bake, and they told me the economy has been hard on them. Their granddaughter recognized me and said I could bake, so I showed them. I felt really bad taking their money for this when they don't have a lot to spare, but I told them they can advertise my cheese bread and cakes if it would help, so that's what we're going to do. They're okay with me staying in the back and not dealing with any customers. The attention is really distracting for everyone, so it's better this way.

It's called Stella's. I have to go back tomorrow morning. I hope I can help

It's been pointed out to me that I never actually introduced myself after I arrived. Just sort of popped on and started talking to people.

So, Hello. Name's Emmeline Vance, I'm 22 and a witch. For those of you who know about such things, I trained at Hogwarts and ended up in the Ministry of Magic. I love art, music, and reading. I'm rubbish at cooking but excellent at eating. I'm reigning handstand champion of the Gryffindor Girls Dormitory, Class of 77. I'm probably going to end up living entirely on Pinkberry while I'm staying here. And I still need a bloody job.

Katie and I finished decorating our Christmas Tree today. I'm not even sure where she found a pink one, but she did. She did most of it on her own. It looks like Christmas vomited in our apartment, but there are presents under the tree so that's all that matters!
