The Doorway: a panfandom game

For a change all is well in the land of Garcia because I got the job! I start Monday as part of the NYPD's Technical Assistant Response Unit. Sure I'll be on desk duty for a few weeks because of the shooting in my world (have to get medical clearance once I heal up a bit more in other words) but I'm just happy to finally do something besides set up my small scale home office and watch TV.

Okay, I am exhausted. I finally closed the case I was working on, so I can finally relax a little. It's nice.

So, most modern tv shows are more than I want to handle, but Once Upon A Time is a really good one.... I really like it. I really feel bad for that Regina girl.... even if she did some bad things.

Well, apparently being Nancy Drew and people knowing about you pays off, I have a case. That is always good. I don't know if I'll get it done as fast without my friends George and Bess, but I am glad to have something to work on. I miss my car sometimes, too, but living here there is really no point when there's public transportation. I don't mind riding the subway. Of course, a car comes in handy when you're working a case, too.

Yeah, because I haven't had enough weird in my life, right?

Also, this thing has some really crappy timing.

According to Ginny, it's kiss a ginger day. I guess I need to find one to snog the hell out of, then. You know, to properly honour the holiday and all.

Well, I can be a private eye in New York. I got my license. It's definitely a good thing, and I am trying to get a website set up, so I can get some work, you know?

Worked something like 14 hours today, which isn't that unusual when there's a big case going on. What is unusual is coming home to this:

Well, ain't that somethin. Barely been here a week and already I'm gettin presents from all sorts of folk. And by folk, I mean the Tesseract.

I found a place makes pretty good bao and other such things. Whenever you three are of a mind and not off doin savin the world type things I'd like to treat you to dinner.

My nose is so stuffed up I can't smell anything. My couch is where I'm camped out, but the tv nowadays is a bit more violent than I'm used to.

So by now everyone's probably seen the news. There was some trouble over at Riker's this morning.

If anyone's trained as an auxillary police officer in another jurisdiction or has any experience they've been holding back, the NYPD could use some people on crowd control, dispatch, or crimestoppers, that sort of thing. Otherwise, I would suggest sitting as tight as possible where you are.

Okay, movies are really different nowadays. However, I have found a lot of music that I really like. It has been a good time for rock music. It's a lot different than what I'm used to, too.

Well, I don't know who 'Emma Stone' is, but apparently I remind someone of her, and there are books about me? That was incredibly hard to hear... and I don't know what to think of that.

Okay.... that hurt. Does.... does anyone know how that might have happened? How I got here? I... I was on my way to Emerson College... this is completely weird....

Have you spent any time at the museum? The MET, specifically. Cause I mean I do. Not like a lot. Just enough that most of the employees may or may not know who I am and all that.

Anyway, I was talking with one of the like big museum guys and he was talking about maybe us doing tours? Like for school groups or whatever. I mean we've a bit of a unique outlook on Ancient Egypt and all and I thought it might be cool but I'd need my favorite nerd brother to back me.

Seeing as we had a few more fish regress over the weekend I took the liberty of euthanizing two of them and, working up histology and genetic profiles for both. I'm still running tests, but the preliminary results are positive? confusing? I suppose complicated.

It seems only fish with a specific mutation are the ones reverting, so, I would think, Pepper, that you might be in the clear on this matter. But histology shows a strange pattern on the tissue level. Jean, I've dropped the images on the Medical server.

You know, I was speaking to a friend the other day, and they said there were not enough parties here. Why if I recall, even Erasmus said "No party is any fun unless seasoned with folly.”

We're having a Video Game mixer this weekend at the Youth Center for anyone interested in coming and gaming. Open to all ages, just a bit of fun and to help open up some interest. Not that I blame anyone for not coming around much this week, but now that school's started I'd love to see it as an afternoon spot people could come if they like, just to do homework or hang out with friends. I've spent some time this past weekend trying to make the game room a bit more cozy and fun, and there's a new coke machine I think you'll all enjoy.

I was out for a few days but have no fear, things are running smoothly yet again.

Also, Hal Mason is gone, for those that are friends. I hadn't seen him for a few days and when I came to check he had returned to his world. I wish him well and hope he's safe.

I hope everything is under control now. It looks like it. Thanks, SHIELD, and everyone who helped. It shows we can pull through a lot, even something that could have been much more catastrophic.

A lot of areas have gotten damaged, to say the least. If you'd like some help cleaning up, whether you're on one of my floors (18 and 19) or not, I offer my services. I don't know how many kitchens were hit, but I'm thinking a potluck dinner would be in good order. Bring what you can. Share and try to relax or at least have company. The fewer troubles we have here, the better. And there's no air conditioning. I'm thinking of making a large coordinated trip to purchase box fans for the windows, at least at night.
