Today folks looked at me like I was the strangest person they seen in New York City. And most of them were wondering what kind of sex I'm having or were trying to imagine. It almost felt like home again. I don't think I've smiled so much in months. And I'm still in a good mood. So I'm calling it a good day.

I happened to look at the TV this morning while I was getting dressed for work and noticed that they were announcing the Academy Award nominations. This was one of the films that was nominated. I wish I'd had the chance to see it, it looks good.

Hey everyone! You might know me or at least my name but I'll introduce myself again just in case. Jean Grey. Not Marvel Girl, not no more. Anyway! With the rolling blackouts and it being cold (not as cold as it's been, but uncomfortable enough), we should do something!

I come from a place where everyone hates and fears us because we're mutants, etc etc you know the drill. So we show them we're not bad. We be X-Men. We got a similar situation here, being refugees and sometimes "fictional characters" is terrifying to the citizens. So we're gonna help them out, not just because WE SHOULD but because it's good for us and them.

I'm in 613. Come if you want to help. Things we need: blankets, coats, those little hand warmer thingies, gloves, hats. Non perishable foods or crackers (or fruit cups). Gatorade or the like is good, too. Steer clear of soda, though. (I know, Gatorade is just as bad, shh). I think we can do more for just the people without power. Let's go a little further and set up some homeless kits. Tampons, deodorant, toothbrushes, nail clippers. Dollar store stuff, people!

2014 sure is shaping up to be an interesting year so far.

I'm not surprised to see a lot of us offering to help Thor, and I'm glad to see people ready to lend a hand. I did want to mention, however, that we shouldn't forget that Earth is one of the realms too, and shouldn't go undefended. I'd like a headcount of who is and who isn't going so we can be sure that enough of us remain here, in case Earth comes under attack in any way. We may be able to travel quickly between realms by then, but that doesn't mean we'll be immediately available or that anyone will be able to reach us fast enough.

Chicago is a wonderful, darling little city, and the weather has mostly held for me which I certainly appreciate. I imagine the first order of business when visiting any major city is to ( take a selfie ) ...Mind you, this was a business trip, so I've thus far spent the majority of my trip in meetings, apart from a trip to the Chicago Art Institute. Halloween is coming up, and we don't even have costume ideas. I don't know about you guys, but I refuse to be in New York and not walk in the Halloween parade dressed up like everybody else. Oh, and I'm not picky, but I'd prefer something cute-looking. :)

I am so not fucking looking forward to fall. Bring back the sunshine, please. I did NOT get enough beach time this year.
