I was thinking on expanding my limited cooking ability. Does anyone have any suggestions of dishes for beginners that I might try?

It appears as if I will be forced to start from scratch in my studies of tobacco ash. Though given the quality of available products, it's quite unlikely that I will enjoy the process a second time.

However, this electric fire detector that produces a high-pitched shrieking sound in the presence of smoke is quite clever. If increasingly bothersome when the noise is prolonged.

I have decided that my current pattern of apartment-library-apartment is perhaps not the healthiest and I need to get out more. Always before I relied on Ronnie or Holmes to drag me out or my ghastly aunt to drive me out of the house. Without that I seem to turn into something of a hermit. So I have bought tickets to the Shattered Glass Ensemble's performance at Carnegie Hall on May 7th. I never much cared for violin music before I met Holmes but he plays so extraordinarily well that I couldn't help but be converted. At least when he's actually playing music and not simply creating godawful noises because he's feeling miffed about something. But that's beside the point. This Shattered Glass Ensemble looks rather interesting and I think I will enjoy hearing them.

I'm so glad that I stumbled upon Etsy. They have the most darling pieces of clothing.

I might try my hand at selling my knitting once I've gained more experience.

I know it's not relevant to most of the network, but I just wanted to thank everyone that was kind to me the other day with the food and the hangover remedies, and watching bad telly and that sort of thing. It doesn't bring Mark back but

Well, it's good to start getting busy again. I have found a part-time job at the New York Public Library, mostly assisting the researchers wanting to use the special collections, which is rather ideal. I am also taking a position as a teacher for the educational services here.

I shall be taking over the teaching of French and Chemistry and I am also offering Aramaic, Arabic, Hindi and Theology: Feminism in Judaism and Christianity for those who might be interested. If anyone is interested in the Theology subject, I strongly recommend also taking one or more of Latin, Greek and Aramaic.

The Macy's Flower Show is coming up, and I've never been, but I thought it might be fun to check it out. I'm sure it will be fairly over the top and ridiculous, but it could still be worth a look. And while I did convince Sherlock to go with me to the Orchid Show, I thought asking him to go to Macy's might be a bridge too far.

They have High Tea on March 27th at 1PM. The description on the website said:

Next vacation, I'm going somewhere without angry drunk people and emergency room visits. Preferably somewhere warm, too. Los Angeles is nice this time of year, isn't it?

Would someone explain to me what this fascination with the color green is? It doesn't seem that this century really needs a reason to get drunk, so what makes today so special? Not that I mean anything by that, they sure look happy enough.

What a truly remarkable place. I have never seen such an overabundance of girth green. I must admit I am still wrapping my head around the idea that this is real, but the gracious gentleman who greeted me when I arrived was very patient in explaining it to me. He even helped me understand how to use this little device.

Despite the introduction, I know that the majority of this world is still foreign to me. Is there anyone here who is willing and capable of helping me understand it? I would like to know more about the customs of this land before I cause unintended offense.
