Mr. Combferre posted today about the increase in robberies up in midtown, and saying people should do something, particularly "given our social status." Now he might not have meant taking justice to the streets, but I know a lot of us come from backgrounds where vigilante justice is a bit more the norm. And while I can officially say I know of no vigilante groups here, the NYPD and the Feds have definitely noticed a spike in vigilante activity in the past six months. So, before the Anti-vigilante task force sets up camp in the protestors outside the tower, I'm going to address it. Because they know I live here, and then I get crap for not knowing what's going on with my neighbors, even though I'm not on the task force.

If you want to help

• Consider joining up with the NYPD, SHIELD, or a similar agency. From what I can tell, they're being pretty chill with refugees, especially those of us with law enforcement backgrounds.
  
• If that's too much time, consider the NYPD's auxillary police. There are lots of openings, from patrolling, to helping in precincts and labs, and you can do as little as an hour a week. They provide training, plus you can get a nifty keychain for your keys.
  
• If you want to do your own thing, New York has private investigator and bounty hunting licenses. They're not averse to people being out there, they just want to know who is.
  
• If you're trailing someone and discover something, take photographs, record things, call the NYPD's anonymous tipline for Terrorism [Number] or Crimestoppers [Number]. Call 911 to get someone on scene and wait until they get there. Just don't bust it up yourself.
  
• If it's a small crime and can stop it safely, by all means stop muggings, property crime, things of that nature--as a good Samaritan. But if you're somewhere you're not supposed to be, or it's a big fish, odds are the NYPD, FBI, or SHIELD are already aware of it, may have undercover agents on the case, and barging in and making citizens arrests or beating up the bad guys can compromise those agents, lead to judges throwing out evidence or arrests, and ultimately the perps walking and untouchable.
  
• On that note, consider strongly not to performing citizen's arrests.

There are lots of ways to help out within the system, if you like. So keep the handcuffs in the bedroom.

I don't see why there should be one; if there's anyone running around naked then we can deal with them as need be, right? Also before someone says "lol Kara wants to know about dress code lololol boobs", Jan helped me with my dress and it's beautiful, so suck it.

Does anyone have recommendations for learning a second language? I'm not talking the 'fastest' or the 'easiest' because I've got no problems with putting in the time and effort to do it right.

My involvement last month with stopping a bank robbery helped me to notice something. Great people I worked with, but we weren't organized at all. No history of working together, lots of easy mistakes we could have been better prepared for.

So I was wondering - and hear me out - what do you all think of forming up something similar to the Justice League here? It doesn't have to be exactly the same, but some way of working together, coordinating, having some kind of method to the madness, so to speak. I'm not suggesting some kind of hierarchy or self-regulation, really, but a gathering of equals where we can train, react to any kind of threats we're aware of. You know, kind of being responsible about it versus everyone doing their own thing.

Thoughts? If you don't agree, I can take it. I'm an adult.

Bees. My God.

First of all: it's spring! It's beautiful (not right NOW but... you know...)! I don't know how long this'll last, but spring is my faaaaaaavorite season. I always hated it when the JLA took me into space with work because although space is a different kind of awesome, it never changes. It's Eternal, with a capital E. And that's great, but I sort of like nature mixing it up every now and then, right? Variety is the spice girl of life!

Yesterday I got a free coffee! Some guy who was a fan of my comics asked me to arm-wrestle. I'm pretty sure he just wanted to touch me, but It was a very short contest. Anyway, he bought me a coffee afterward and asked me some questions about my "future in comics" and whether or not Terra and I are "lesbian lovers" and then stated that Batman was way better than Superman (sorry, Supes), which wasn't much of a question so I just drank my coffee. Still, he seemed pretty nice! Glad I could drop a house on him either way just in case.

Dreaming of Summer Series

Joseph Wants an Ocean: Joseph's been harassing me for an ocean scent, and we had a talk about how difficult they are to pull off. Do you go for a beachy smell? Do you go for a marine smell? Weirdly a lot of perfumers add fruity notes in to capture that elusive scent, but I didn't want to do that. Instead, this scent perfume the smells of driftwood, salt, myrtle, ambergris, and a touch of ozone for a more-natural experience. It leans masculine but a lady can pull it off just fine.

Stocking the Summer Picnic Basket: I don't know about you, but I like to be prepared. One of the things I always do is stock the picnic basket with essentials in case I do a last-minute picnic. This smell is fun-loving, airy, and weird. More wearable than you think! Lacquered wood from the picnic basket act as base notes with touches of spearmint (breath mints!), salt, and a hint of Coppertone sunscreen weaving around the top notes of freesia and frangipani.

The Boys and Gal of Summer(s): We've got a lot of people here with the last name of Summers, so I thought I'd honor them! This scent is complex and unisex. Bright California wildflowers, juicy blood orange, and a solid smack of patchouli make this scent a long-lasting ode to the beautiful things that hail from the West (lasers and stake not included).

There's no filter for this and I'm not sure who to target with it if I made one in any case, so I apologize for the open invitation to anyone uninterested.

It seems there's a few of us that own boats now, so I was thinking some kind of sailing club might be a good idea. Maybe even host weekends with friends and such. Make it a 'thing.' Thoughts?

So it's not catching muggers on my lunch break or anything, but I did work with four others to stop a bank robbery yesterday. I've never been part of a team before, so there were a few mistakes, but in the end no one was hurt and the police took all of the robbers into custody. A win for the good guys.

I ended up calling it a night after all of the questions and reports (so much paperwork, why?) and I just remembered today that I never even finished what I was in the bank for in the first place. It took a small loan, but you're looking at the proud owner of a '76 Herreshoff Nereia. She's old, but I didn't want some fancy plastic-looking white boat.

I've got a little hibachi grill and the night off if you're bored and want to see what sailing is like.

I've generally avoided banks since arriving here. Then when I need to go, it gets robbed.

Working with a mostly new 'team', that was an experience.

I just came through a tesseract and got interrogated by S.H.I.E.L.D. And this is a universe where comic books are real! I haven't disproved my initial hypothesis that this is a dream, but even if it is, it's a very good one.

So the Avengers are here? Iron Man? This is your technology and your tower so I know you're here. Ant-Man? Wasp? Thor? The Hulk? Captain America? Hawkeye? Scarlet Witch? Quiksilver? Hercules? Black Knight? Black Widow? Black Panther? Beast? Wonder Man? Falcon? Captain Marvel? Wolverine? Ronin? Spider-Man? Spider-Woman?

This is a Marvel universe, right? So no Batman, Superman, The Flash, Aquaman, or Green Lantern? That's very unfortunate. If this were my dream world they would be here.

I woke up this morning and realized it was already March. Please tell me I'm not the only one. Because I've still got Christmas decorations in my room that I apparently need to remember to take down and I was telling myself to wait until after New Year's.

Look at my bunny! Her name is Hudson (but I may be changing that, we'll see) and she's adorable. I just got her an hour ago! Her little ear was torn (they don't know how, but they suspect abuse) and I just couldn't resist her sweet face and creepy red eyes.

Lucy and Julie, come meet your godchild. I'm already teaching her how to appear out of a hat.

Oh and she grunts when you give her cereal, the big fatty.

Man, I cannot got a job for the life of me bad saying, Kenny. Three interviews, all "no thanks." Maybe it's cuz I'm only seventeen. Or have no prior experience. Or, you know, are a giant heap of metal Viscious cycle: no experience at a job because a job won't hire you without experience. Makes my head spin. Maybe I'll just go back to school. "Avenging" isn't exactly a solid skill set in the real world, but man was it the best experience ever. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

Also, been looking at ways to fundraise for the park for the kids. Some big money could come in from auctioning off a lunch date with Tony Stark or Harry Potter.. Or any other big wig out there willing to donate their time and a bit of humility for a really, really good cause. Just sayin.

Packing/Shipping/Delivery: This person would ideally be able to lift up to 40 lbs easily and travel the city to deliver my products to participating stores. He/she would also need to manage the shipment of products from the web, and make sure that the orders are filled, packed, and picked up by the post office.

Shop Clerk: This person would need to be friendly, like meeting new people, and willing to help sell products in the store! I track sales but we don't do commission - just end of the month bonuses. All I need is enthusiasm and a willingness to learn, though an interest in bath and body products wouldn't hurt.

I've never been the type of woman who wanted Friday night plans, but after this week, I could have used some. I still haven't seen Argo. Is anyone interested in a late show?
