Hey everyone - Friday of next week, the Roadhouse, located on Flatbrush Ave [exact address] will have it's Grand Opening at 5pm. We'll have drink specials and food specials running all night, along with pool and darts. I'll have more details closer to the date. The 18th will be a soft opening for friends and VIPs only, so if you want half price drinks that night - you better become my friend between now and then.

Happy Memorial Day weekend, everyone. I hope you all enjoy it while keeping in mind the reason for the holiday itself.

This is an interesting development. Any idea how long this will last?

Quite a few years ago, I had this plan for Memorial Day that involved the Hamptons, seafood, a really skimpy swimsuit and getting to know the guy I had just began dating a little better. As with most things in my life at the time, Castle got in the way. He offered his own way to spend the long weekend; fireworks and bonfires, a heated pool on his large estate.

This weekend I'm getting to finally experience those promises made. And it's just a reminder of how lucky I am. The past couple of weeks have been hard, some very dear friends have returned home, but my family is still here. Two kids that keep me laughing and amazed, and a husband that would lasso the moon if I asked him to.

I won't, mostly for practical reasons involving tide levels and ocean currents, but it's nice that have a reminder of all the good in the midst of the bad.

And, really, how can I be upset at anything when this is what greets me when I get home from the precinct?

As you may all be aware, Memorial Day is next Monday and as part of a team effort, the Avengers and SHIELD will be hosting a Memorial Day barbecue at the Avengers Mansion! Everyone is invited to attend, free of charge. Alongside the traditional hot dogs and hamburgers, vegan/vegetarian alternatives will be available.

Of course a barbecue isn't complete without some good old fashioned fun -- football, dodgeball, and a variety of carnival games are also part of the experience. In addition, we will be hosting a fundraising event in an effort to give back to the community.

I look forward to seeing everyone there, so don't forget to mark May 25th on your calendars!
