Why does Findekáno bear the title that is mine by right?

Víressë. It means 'April' in the language of our people and it is sufficient to describe the season and the works made by my father; his first collection has taken a decidedly spring and summer air.

I have found being a leader of our people to be more or less stressful throughout the long years of our lives. But I have never imagined selling things would be so much more difficult.

People need to stop using the word mortal and mortals. It rubs me the wrong way -- especially because it keeps being used in a dismissive, annoying, insulting way.

Does anyone know where I might find a blacksmith here? And a space I could use to provide lessons?

Guinevere's suggestion that I give lessons here has lodged itself in my mind. I've already volunteered my services as a teacher to Matty but I am thinking about trying to make a living at it. Assuming I can find a place to give lessons and students would you be willing to help me in this?

I'm not asking you to give up whatever jobs you have found for yourselves, but just any time you could spare.

Haymitch! I have found you a friend. He is the most marvelous creature imaginable - and by that I do not mean me, of course though I am quite wonderful if I might say so myself. I named him Aicasse or 'pinetree' in the high tongue as it was the only word I understood of his terrible speech. He is quite vapid in nature but I am sure you will do well together.

Be advised that you ought not feed him tacos. I'm fairly certain he'll die. Speaking of which, please do not eat him. It would be tragic and I think he would taste bad.

I am prepared now to share stories with you.

This place is much lovelier to me now that I have my smithy. It will never be Tírion, but neither will it have the Valar's chains. There is a certain peace here, in the chaos, and I like it. This...anonymity and solitude among millions. It has been long since I have known anything resembling peace, indeed, I know not if I ever have.

Today I spent my lunch hour in the park, eating what food I could find that did not repulse me, and I could not help but watch the children, in particular a dark haired little boy with his mother. And as I watched this child of Men, so carefree and happy...I was overcome with sadness, for those years of childhood are so short, and life so quickly becomes filled with pain and loss and despair. But Men, at least, find freedom from this cage after a short time, and I envy them that. For the Children of Men there is no eternal Oath, no doom that follows them to the end of Arda. Nay, in a short lifetime there is freedom beyond the bounds of the world, and peace. Peace that the Ñoldor will never know, unless Eru himself forgives us in the Second Music.

But alas, I speak of nothing.

I found myself this evening picking up an old skill that I have not done in many years; embroidery. It is a relaxing habit, and while what I did tonight was very simple indeed, I wonder if anyone would be interested in buying it. I have no need for it, as it is a woman's garment, and I have only sons.

I have come up with a wonderful idea! I am not so sure it has been thought of before.

But all of the lovely women out there--and the occasional man--asking for a partner to engage in practice battle otherwise known as 'sparring' ought to do it together.

Then you will all have partners all the time. I think it should be a happy occasion! Unless you all somehow dislike each other, then it might run the risk that one or two of you may die.

But that aside.

Somehow I believed that the Halls of Mandos would let in far less...chaff.

All the different languages I have heard in this place are fascinating indeed. I find myself wanting to learn them all, to examine and dissect them, to perfect them where they need perfecting. I have finished my alphabet, which I believe is a great improvement over these letters that I type with, and certainly more attractive. These letters are small and rather banal, I find.

( An example of it is here - I chose a poem from the large tome of the Third Age, as actual words always look better than just a written alphabet. )

Also - I am taking orders for crafts. Jewels, jewelry, armor, and also weaving and embroidery - anything of the sort. The price will be high, as should expected of quality merchandise, but it will be well worth it.

I do not think I am alone in stating that I fail to understand the true purpose of tomorrow's celebration. However, if ever we have needed an excuse to come together for merrymaking it would seem tomorrow would be it.

We are a small people in this place and it would do us well to come together. Might we spend one evening where we are not fighting amongst ourselves?
