I have to say, I don't think I had to fill out so much paperwork for college and medical school combined. Including the financial aid stuff and all the applications for internships and my residency. I guess S.H.I.E.L.D. really does like having hard copies of everything.

Cramped fingers aside, the training isn't so bad. It's hardly a walk in the park, but it's really no worse than I expected. And it's nice to have something to do. I was starting to feel a little restless, with no job or real responsibility.

That said, I'm glad the weekend is nearly here. I'll be heading to Sam's for a drink or three this evening, if anyone cares to join me.

Is it weird if I think this is sort of exciting? I mean, it's an alternative universe. That shouldn't even be possible, I don't think, and yet here we are. Don't mind me, I'm sure the novelty of it will wear off soon.

By the way, I'm Martha Jones. Doctor Martha Jones. (I never get tired of saying that!)

It seems I've found a job here, at least. I'll be starting training to work with S.H.I.E.L.D. Medical on Wednesday. It's going to be different from what I'm used to, but I'm looking forward to a new challenge.

It's been pointed out that we need another snowball fight, since there is fresh snow all over the damned place.

Violet, get out the cannon, we're going to need it. Anyone else who wants to participate, we'll go again at Rockefeller park, noon tomorrow. It's still going to be cold, so wear your best warm-weather gear and we'll see who wins this time.

To whom do I speak about joining Shield? Whatever it is I've been doing for a month has been fun, but I felt more like my old self than I have in awhile, in Asgard.

Happy Christmas. It's not the same without my dad and my auntie Catriona, but I reckon I'm making do.

The Tesseract, however, didn't forget me. Yesterday when I returned from Asgard I had a package waiting for me. My entire collection of brew journals that I've kept for the last several years was pretty great. But even better was every single Martin Miggs, the Mad Muggle comic that I had stored in a box in my attic was even better. Huge fucking box. Merlin, it had the ones Dad started collecting when he was a kid, so I've got nearly the entire damn collection.

Um, no one has a pet... reindeer they just decided to let wander through the lobby this morning did they? Because I swear I saw one. And if no one did that's probably fine too. It's not the first hoofy animal that I've seen show up where it's got no business being. I just thought a reindeer might be more likely real than.... well, you know. A unicorn.

Eddie Carmichael throws a good party. It was really nice to get out and meet some people. I'll admit, I didn't have much of a social life at home, but I have a little more time on my hands here. It was nice to make some new friends.
