Yeah, so when I said the goal of the Enterprise's five-year mission was to explore strange new worlds, seek out new life and new civilizations, and boldly go where no man has gone before.... I really wasn't thinking "New York, 2013".

...But I can see how that might be an oversight on my part.

FILTERED TO NICK FURY (MCU) AND MARIA HILL (MCU):

Medical's been able to identify the chemical composition of the gas responsible for this weekend's hysterics. More information should be coming to you through other channels, but scuttlebutt says there might be a group of refugees who could provide more detailed information from personal experience.

FILTERED TO DC-VERSE; READABLE BY NICK FURY (MCU) AND MARIA HILL (MCU):

I'm Dr. Leonard McCoy, part of the SHIELD medical team that's investigating this weekend's incident. Any information you might be able to contribute to our investigation regarding "fear gas" would be highly appreciated. Thank you for your cooperation.

TEXT TO Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy:
» You're a space doctor.
» You might know
» Is there a "Do-It-Yourself" way to check that you're not secretly an alien?

TEXT TO SPOCK (AOS):
» I can't find our Jim.

It would appear there is an Emma Frost writing for The White Queen. Ha ha, universe. Very funny.

I'd almost think that I'd died and gone to the Maker and Andraste decided I needed to permanently spend my life surrounded by kittens. Except for the fact that the clinic is still running and I've be very surprised if New York is actually what exists at the Maker's side.

Sadly I can't staff the clinic with kittens, though that will perhaps be an idea for the next world I somehow end up in. The tesseract does seem to have it in for our staff lately. But it's not like I was ever that fond of sleep to begin with. Terrible habit really, tends to ruin my hair. When it's not already been ruined by, well, everything else.

But no darkspawn blood here. I can tell you those stains do not come out. Have to think of the positives.

[Powerpuff Girls]

Um I think I know the back of my sister's head when I see it LOCKING ONTO CAPTAIN AMERICA'S FACE.

[End Ward]

[Steve Rogers MCU]

That fancy shield of yours, what does it do?
[End Ward]

[Warded to Jesse Pinkman]

Who would win in a fight, me or Captain America?
[End Ward]

I don't know how I feel about this. I mean, clearly anyone who doesn't pick me is gonna be in for a bad time.

Gutta cavat lapidem, non vi sed saepe cadendo.

That's Ovid. It means "A drop carves the rock, not by force but by persistence." and it is also the motto of the ASH -- The Adventuresses of Sherlock Holmes who have been so kind as to extend a dinner invitation to me for tonight. This is their seventeenth invitation. The rock has been carved.

They are one of New York's first Sherlock Holmes society and composed (originally) only of women and founded by Principal Unprincipled Adventuress Evelyn Herzog -- because London's Baker Street Irregulars would not allow female members (and Boston's Speckled Band still doesn't). It feels a bit awkward, walking into a fan club for me that's been around since before I was born.

There's also a bit of a "said the spider to the fly" about all of this. But... I have a harem of adventuresses. Far be it from me to disappoint them.

Home cooked food takes about the same amount of time to cook as waiting in a restaurant, but it's cheaper, and you can cook without people recognizing you and telling you you should date your best friend or go back to your own world. No one starts off knowing how to cook, but the class I'm teaching will not be like Master Chef or Hell's Kitchen or any Gordon Ramsay cooking show. I'm not Gordon Ramsay. But each class we will make food together and eat it. it will be relaxed, but I will teach you technique and first recipes then making your own food. I am Russian. We want food to taste good. If you want it to look pretty, find a Frenchman. But it will taste delicious. If you don't care about my age, I don't care about yours. It's never too late or early to learn.

Swimming is good exercise. The sweat slips off you into the water, and it keeps you cool. I've taught people how to swim before, and no one's been hurt. You'll learn to float first, then different kinds of strokes. I am very strong and can save you if it's needed. But if you don't trust that I can do that, I built a transporter and pins, to get signals from each student who wishes to wear one. I won't need to be near you to safely transport you out of the pool. It's also the only reason right now I am willing to transport people, crew of the Enterprise or not. That might be a reason for some people.

Cooking! Swimming! Taught by me, Pavel Andreievich Chekov. If you have any questions, please ask.

Well, it sure is nice to know that I'm not the only one who's seeing things feeling really strange. It's one thing to feel absolutely insane, but it's another to be alone in that feeling. Especially when it feels like bullshit.

I had the privilege of my wife's company for rather less than three months - before we were married, I'd put the grand total, generously calculated, of the time we spent in the same room at something like three weeks. (Travel was a different thing altogether back then, and she lived more than eighty miles away - no casual journey.) After the wedding, we lived together for two months and three days before I returned to Versailles (four hundred and fifty miles away, for those keeping track).

Not quite three months of actual togetherness; perhaps sixteen months from our first introduction to when I buried her. By the numbers, not terribly impressive, even by my very old-fashioned standards.

And so I think it's nice to sit by her again - quite nice. There isn't much to say, but often that's for the best.

[PROJECT CENTURION]
(Consisting of (but subject to change): Rory Williams, Dr. Leonard McCoy, Sherlock Holmes(Elementary), Doctor Strange, Dr. Hank Mccoy, Tony Stark (616) & Dorian Gray (who is read-only)

Hi. Uh, I'm Rory Williams -- I mean, for those who don't know me or the fact I'm Stark's PA.

Anyway.

For the past couple months or so, Stark has been working to develop artificial limbs specifically for former soldiers. Right now, primarily we've gotten enough funding from the Canadian War Amps and America's Amputee Coalition. As they're charitable organisations, funds are pretty limited. Next week, we've set up to meet with a few investors-slash-donors, as this is mostly meant as a charitable endeavour.

Before that happens, Stark would like to meet with you, gentlemen, -- Strange, McCoy -- for help with the help with the neural net integration. So, let me know when you're free, so some science can happen.

[Zoe]
What's the status with the ranch? Logistics, that is? Is it paid for, do we need to make it profitable, etc? It's a great place.

Would be presumptious to set up a room for myself there?

[Kaylee]
Miss Frye, I'm not sure you know me, but I was a friend of Mal's and Zoe's been letting me continue coming out to the ranch for the open skies and the horses. I've seen the helicopter out there and I wanted to ask if you'd mind if I tinkered with it occasionally. I know better than to touch someone's ship/copter without their permission.

[Starfleet]
Are any of you thinking about skipping out of the tower? I'd like to keep in touch if you do.

As for myself, I'm not sure what I'm going to do yet. I think I'd get lonely if I moved out to the Mojave and I don't think I could convince all of you to come with me.

[Bones]
As my physician, would you be okay with me moving out of the tower? I haven't made any decisions yet, but I wanted to check with you before I started entertaining options.

Today, I have officially been here for one full year without getting pulled back and forth like a bunch of others Gale Ugh ...and the only person I knew was Finnick who kept tying everything I had into knots. I guess the Tesseract really did decide that my life here was probably worth more than it is back in our world. I had a huge empty house all to myself and rebellion was on its way to winding down, so really, what was there to do back there anyway? And, here, I have a job here that I hate and love. Because who wouldn't have a hate/love relationship with a work place that brings you close to sick people?

Anyway, potentially long and sappy rambly entry made short: I'm staying. No protestors are going to scare me out.

Also, its the 20th. Why am I still hearing fireworks? Geez, people, at least use the ones that sound like they're actual fireworks and not just a single boom?

[Cells Five, Seven, Eight, Nine]

We've an emergency cord pulled 500 feet short of the 42nd and Grand Central Station station for the green line. We've got reports of entire cars spontaneously going mad. Which usually isn't all that strange for the subway but this is looking more like our kind of strange.

Five and Eight, you are on clean up and evidence collection. People don't just go mad, there's got to be something bigger going on here.

Seven and Nine, you are setting up quarantine and interviewing what people you can. We're setting up medical for these passengers so keep them updated with more information.

[SHIELD Medical]

We've reports of a train in the subway suddenly going mad. Agents are containing the situation, but I need all of you to prep the medical bay for quarantine. Information's still fuzzy as to what's going on but agents will keep you updated.

There are months that seem to stretch on forever. Then there are months that disappear before you have a chance to catch your breath. So far July has been a bit of a dick. Hard to think I've been here over a year.

[Bones]
There is nothing quite like an international terrorist to remind you of how miniscule you are in the grand scheme of things.
