Did anyone else go out and plant a tree today?

My mother always made a point of us celebrating arbor day when we were children and I guess it stuck with me. I don't think my siblings carried on with it after they moved out but there's something really fun to me about going out and getting dirty for a little while. Hooking up with a new group was weird. I had been doing it for years with he same people back home, but it was fun! I met some cool new people. Got me out of this bubble I've been living in for a while.

But now I have to scrub every inch of my body. The might have been a dirt fight and I might have gotten soil in places I didn't expect.

I retract all negative comments about this New York, actually made and otherwise.

If anyone wants a Raspberry Pi, I have some B models going spare. Twenty, taking up space on my counter.

Looks like Sebacean and Human physiology is different enough to save me from the flu that is going around, but it got me thinking about what I need to watch out for here. I did a little research on New York's weather system in the summer, but I don't understand the different between Celsius and Fahrenheit. So, I'll present this question to the network instead: How hot does it get in New York City in the summer?

Since it appears we'll be on this rock for a while, I've decided to try mating with a suitable human woman. I have needs, and it's been quite a few hundred cycles. Crichton, I would ask you specifically, but your prowess seems to extend only as far as getting you into trouble or Aeryn, so forgive me if I don't cast my net wider on advice.

I've just discovered something called "Cherry Garcia." I don't know why it's spelled that way but it tastes amazing. It's quite a useful counter to my recent frustrations.

The problem here is power. Any decent power source for anything I build is either inadequate for what I want to do, too expensive for me to buy, or illegal. I miss being able to requisition things Stark Industries isn't looking at new applications for at least another month. Does anyone have any ideas how I can occupy myself in the meantime? I'm teaching some courses at the hackerspace and spending a lot of time working there, but I could use some more variety.

Well, today was eventful, at least.

Is theft such a common occurrence on this planet that some frelling drannit can take a box straight out of my arms in a crowded street in brightest daylight and only one person helps me catch comes to my aid as I chase the thief? Because that seems to be the case.

At least it happened close to the tower. I turned my ankle trying to fight back against the pile of dren, not that it did much good. And the person who helped me today was able to subdue the thief. I haven't even looked inside the box yet. Ten solar days of effort were in there, and if the condition of the box is any indication...

I'm glad the medical care here is competent, as well.

Moya suggested I reach out to the rest of the "space people" to see if any of you might have a technical background with the ability to create a kind of hover craft. The technology is fairly rudimentary where I come from, but here it's basically non existent here. I'm not a tech by any means, but I have a friend who is in need of a hover chair. He doesn't deserve it, but we all look out for each other for some reason. Are any of you able and willing to help with this task? I've spoken to Moya about it and we'd be willing to allow you the use of DRDs in return for your help with this.

I don't get what the big deal is about green beer. Phellep nectar comes in a variety of shades. I drank a pink red one once. I'm also not sure I understand why everyone seems to think pinching and kissing random strangers is a good idea. A man tried to pinch me for not wearing green at a bar and I broke his fingers retaliated.

Everyone is going to get a nerf gun & a tag attached to their door on the morning of Friday, March 22nd. IT WILL LAST UNTIL THERE IS ONE PERSON LEFT. Usually takes about 48 hours.

IF YOU WISH TO PARTICIPATE, attach the tag to your persons whenever you are in the tower, IT HAS TO BE VISIBLE.

If you don't want to join in, don't wear a tag and surrender your gun to me.

NO SHOOTING UNTAGGED PEOPLE. Likewise, no hiding your tag. If you want to play, be fair about it.

ANYWAY. If you shoot someone with a tag fairly, you get their tag and so on and so forth. If they have 5 tags from people they killed, you get all of them. Winner is whoever has the most tags in the end FROM FAIR KILLS. Seriously, don't be a cheating douchebag.

OH AND because this needs to be said; No modding your guns. At all. (I'm looking at you, Mass Effect people.) Extra ammo is your responsibility - each gun comes with 6. Take the ammo from your "kills".

NO POWERS. Sorry about this one, but if you've GOT powers, at least TRY not to use them. Like no Force, or telepathically convincing someone to come out, or telekentically blocking doorways, that sort of thing. You should know what's right and wrong. This includes NO DRONES OR MECHANICAL HELP YOU BUILD.

Some tips;

Watch out for the spies & shooter people (No joke, they are scary MOFOs and usually win. Don't be sore about it, most of them save lives etc etc).

Don't shoot people who are carrying coffee. OW.

I pretty much understand what is going on- save for the protesters, what's their deal? We must be too handsome for them to deal with-, have been made aware that a version of Doctor Daniel Jackson is present here, and that there's currently no way home. I can't accept that. Pretty sure I'm not the only one, either.

And knowing that sitting here on my pretty ass is pretty much going to drive me crazy, I'm looking for a jogging partner and someone knowledgeable in fencing.

I understand why you add a day to your calendar every four cycles years. It's a common method for planets to keep their calendars in sync with the seasons.

But could someone explain to me why the frell all the timepieces in here just skipped forward an arn hour if we're just going to get that time back later on? I received the notice that it would happen, but researching this "Daylight Saving Time" hasn't provided any actually useful information on exactly why this is supposed to be a good idea.

I joined a hackerspace today. (That's an interesting term. It doesn't quite have an analogue to anything I've heard before.)

It seems to be a good way to familiarize myself with the materials available on this world and their capabilities. They also pointed me toward resources for learning about programming and cyber manipulation. And there's a company that does three-dimensional printing in the building as well, which should prove useful.

If I'm going to be here, I'm going to make the best of it. And that means being useful.

Is there anyone else here who's been there before, or would be interested in joining? I'm not accustomed to unrestricted travel, and it would be helpful to have backup.
