So now all the business with the presents is wrapped up, and the enormous end of year balls have been dropped (Not a word, Iron Bull) are we just expected to... sit quietly and suffer in the snow for the remainder of the winter, or is there something I'm missing, because I can't understand why anyone would want to live in a place where being cold is an expected state.


Although, I did buy these. They're USB heated slippers. So my life, it could be worse. We should have these back home.

All right, whoever took the cupcakes from my apartment, you might not want to eat them. They're full of hot sauce and chilli flakes.

I'm afraid Miss Mittens is not nearly as impressed with her holiday sweater as I am.

So something... odd happened while we were shopping today. There don't appear to be any effects yet but I'm keeping an eye on things. If I start acting strangely, you should alert someone in authority.

Last year, around the holidays, we all received gifts from the Tesseract, something I've come to understand is a regular occurrence even before then. Though I'd been a little out of practice, I've been playing my violin more in the last year than I had in the previous three. It's not any one thing. I have more time. It's the most luxurious item I own here. And it's a piece of home. What gifts have you used or appreciated most? What would you want to get from home? I'm not much for Christmas lists since I usually forget it even on the day, but at least we know the Tesseract is real, unlike Santa.

Well, that was one of the most interesting experiences I've had so far here. If this Black Friday thing means the coffee shops are open much earlier, then I can't say much bad about it myself.

People fighting each other over shoes, however, is something I could go without.

If anyone is looking for a more fulfilling way to spend part of their Thanksgiving, I'll be helping to hand out meals as a local shelter and would appreciate some assistance.

Today has become one of those -- you know, controversial days. Remembering veterans, remembering those that fought and died - that's important. But I don't think, in 2015 we should overlook the imperial and colonial implications of war, and the crimes against humanity committed by even the winning sides.

So we're right to be conflicted. But wars have always had a very, very human face. And as much as today is about peace, ending war, it's also got to be about the individuals who fought because it was right, because they were called upon to do so, and because it was their duty. Looking back, gaining perspective, it's not always kind to those soldiers, but today, let's do a little, give a little, and support a little a community of men and women that need it and who are all too often forgotten, no matter their sacrifice.

With that in mind, today I've got a few things lined up with the NYCVA. They're be a few talks, and you're all invited, as well as some workshops out at the Legion in Brooklyn with some of the local vets.

Tonight though, I'm going to be back at Sam's Bar, holding a get together for refugees, particularly those who've been in wars or conflicts that aren't known to this universe. It'll be a place to talk, to share experiences and to to remember the people who were important to you.

i think i'm gonna hang out with the sealo's today. they're always kind of good at cheering someone up.

I handed out less than half the candy I bought for Halloween, and with the sales... I have enough chocolate for many a sugar high or food coma. It depends how much you eat. So I have to prioritize. Who wants Hersheys, Twizzlers, or Milky Ways? I'm not releasing my clutches on the Reese's peanut butter cups or the Snickers just yet. Could just hide it in my apartment, secret treats whenever I discover them. People do that for cats.

I think knowing oneself is both terribly important, and terribly tragic. For example, I know without prompt that I am both easier bored and endlessly curious. You would think that one might aid in trampling down the other, but that is never the case.

You see - I often find that I have no idea which direction I ought to look to learn about new people, new things or this new place where we've found ourselves! I thought perhaps you'd like to help me sort it out. Over dinner.

In honor of 1941, I'm attempting to recreate my grandparents' recipes. While I know how it's supposed to taste, it's yet to turn out just right. But half the fun is trying.

Filtered: Grey Wardens / Former Grey Wardens

I have been analyzing tainted and untainted blood from the Hawke brothers to isolate and identify what is responsible for the Calling that Grey Wardens eventually experience with the primary goal of developing a method to neutralize or suppress the Calling in Grey Wardens that arrive through the tesseract. I've eliminated pathogens (anything that causes disease) and immunoresponses (how your body fights off illnesses) between the brothers, and I believe I am close to identifying the taint. My writings tonight have twofold purpose.

First, I would like to confirm my hypotheses by also analyzing other samples of Grey Warden blood, to ensure that it is not simply the result of some illness Carver Hawke faced that Garrett Hawke did not and to analyze its effects on the body over time (to see what it looks like in further and less developed cases). I have no magical abilities with which to manipulate your blood, and I will not label or record any results using identifying information, for what good that will do given the small number of Grey Wardens here.

Second, the Stark Expo is coming up this month, and I do believe I could achieve results faster with input and discussion from other scientists. However, I will not discuss any results in public without express permission of everyone whose health could be affected by this information. I may also be able to present the information without identifying which world the disease comes from to offer further protection. But I will need to inquire about that, if you would like that to be a condition.

Beth keeps trying to "rescue" me from the pigeons on the balcony, even though some of them are bigger than she is. Maybe she's part mabari after all.

Does anyone want some of this candy corn? One of the regulars gave me some to take home but it's not really to my taste.
