For the record? I'm fine. Yes, I miss my son. Yes, waking up to an empty apartment every morning breaks my heart all over again is tough. But I'll survive. I have to; I promised Connor that much. He knew this day would come, or at least that it could come. I didn't want to admit it -- I thought I could keep him here by sheer force of will -- but he tried to prepare me for it.

My compliments go to Eddie Carmichael. I'll admit that I haven't spent a good deal of time with wizards, and my experience with magic is limited to soul-sucking portraits, but still. I'd be a fool not to comment on what the man can do with his wand.

Stark Resilient now has a new home. We're operating out of the Fuller Building and will be set up by the end of this week. Obviously, with all this business going on in Asgard, it's rather had to say when exactly normal operations will resume, but there it is and I'm rather impressed with how she's turning out. I should have been an interior decorator.

Tonight, I'm going to see The Nutcracker for the first time. Ballet was starting to kick off in my time, but it's still a relatively new show, in the grander scheme of things, and hadn't made it to London until a few years after I offed myself. So I'm looking forward to it.

Why did I let Connor talk me into doing this date auction thing? That kid's got me wrapped around his finger. I hope it raises a lot of money -- not because a low selling price would bruise my ego, okay maybe a little but because my embarrassment should be worth quite a bit.

There won't be any singing or dancing, though. Let's stick to the kind of embarrassment that won't drive half the audience away with their hands over their ears or eyes.

Just a heads up. I found a vampire tonight who'd been bitten and apparently drained of most of his blood. Not sure what happened yet, but it didn't seem like the biting-as-foreplay thing some vamps do. Until we figure out what it was, be careful. I don't want any of us to be the next victim.

Anybody know of a creature that feeds on vampire blood? (Giles, Wes? Did that kind of thing ever come up in the Watchers Diaries?) Or even just a reason someone/something might bite a vampire -- any lead would be great.

And Connor's birthday is in eight days! In case anybody wanted to get him presents. I'm just saying. My kid's gonna be 21 or at least that's what we're saying, I'm not sure we'll ever know how old he really is between the time stuff and the portals and the memory dumps, pretty sure he deserves some cool swag for that.

...I shouldn't say "swag," should I? It's like that time I told Gunn he'd be tripping out when he saw the ballet -- although in my defense, he was tripping out when he saw it. He said so himself, you can ask him!

Speaking of presents, I brought some stuff back from the Catskills for you guys. Books, mostly, some incense, deity pendants for the women, and door mantras for everyone -- you place it above your doorway for protection from harm (I won't be offended if you decide not to use it, but around here we need all the help we can get). A few pieces of artwork from the monastery, which was demon-free this time, thankfully. Stop by the apartment at some point this week if you can.

Oh, and we're having a birthday party for Connor next week at our place. Nothing big, just friends and family, but you're all invited if you promise you can play nice with Darla. And anyone else Connor wants there, of course. Does the 19th work for everybody? Otherwise we could do it this weekend, or maybe next depending on my work schedule. I'm gonna bake a cake, I know none of you want to miss that.

I'm going out of town for a few days. There's a Tibetan Buddhist monastery in the Catskills that's willing to host me for the weekend, and, well... I could really stand to take a step back from my life right now. I'm not sure when I stopped meditating regularly -- probably somewhere around Wolfram & Hart or maybe when Jasmine was -- but I think it'll do me some good to start up again. I'll have my cell phone for about an hour or two a day, so I won't be completely out of touch if anyone needs me.
