The Doorway: a panfandom game

My first thought would be that only Shepard could have managed this, but a look around the welcome suggests that's not so. Thank you, for a better end of this day than I expected.

Suppose a hello is in order -- my name is Miranda Lawson. This isn't the earth I'm familiar with, but I'm glad the latent stench of piss is a constant for New York. From the information I was given, the year is currently 2015, which is approximately 135 years prior to my birth. Wonderful.

You'd think after so much time in space I'd be glad to settle down, but I guess I haven't gotten over the culture shock yet. This feeling of being fictional really kind of takes the gravity out of everything, makes my universe -- which I used to think was so vast -- feel so small. It's overwhelming, I guess, and I can't say I'm getting comfortable.

At the same time, it's comforting to know that even universes away I can get a good steak sandwich.

I know I've been scarce the last week or so. Shepard's disappearance hit me hard; I really wasn't ready to lose him again. At some point I've got to just dust off and keep going.

Where I'm from, Earth has been under siege for months. Casualties are in the millions, if not billions. It's hard to say with the comm-buoys down. I can't say I'm happy about leaving my friends during such a big crisis, but getting back to Earth when it's relatively peaceful, it's a lot easier to appreciate what we were fighting for. A lot of this stuff, I used to take for granted.

Well, a lot of stuff I used to take for granted doesn't exist yet, and there's plenty here that never existed on my version of Earth, but you know what I mean.

If what I have been told is true, I have been pulled from my universe into an alternate one, where Liara T'soni's life is fictional, it is the Earth's year 2013, and I am now a human being. Apparently there are others from my universe here too, who have been here for some time, even though the version of them from my universe was still there when I left. I assume that means there is still a version of me there too. Which is... odd, but I guess that means I don't need to worry about that universe so much anymore?

That will be difficult to get used to.

And apparently I was here briefly before? I do not remember that.
I'm not sure what to do with myself. If there's no Protheans in this universe, then my entire life's work will not do much good here. I suppose I never really had an excuse to research human culture and customs very thoroughly before - my focus was always on the extinct.

This whole job thing, it's working out. First, I got it, which surprised me, but I'm all of a sudden so busy. At least it's the weekend, a little relaxing is a good thing.
