The Doorway: a panfandom game

Somebody left me an awesome hat. I want to wear it, but I'm also from a place where mysterious gifts are usually cursed and invaders could be hiding inside that really cute wooden horse that you just brought into the city.

So for the sake of me being able to wear this marvelously knitted hat, let me know if you're the one who gave it to me, or know who did.

I rode in a taxi for the first time yesterday and I cannot say I am excited to try it again. I miss our horses and the space to ride them. This land is big but it is so small.

After having my life [...] film compared to this Indiana Jones character, I made the decision to watch his films. It's quite an interesting idea that the Ark might have made its was all the way back to Egypt as a final resting place but I have to admit he is perhaps the most unprofessional archaeologist I've ever seen in my life - discounting my brother, who wears the title quite loosely as it is. It's a wonder he gets anything done at all, and the way he treats and/or gets historic sites treated is

Today is not the day to play pranks on me. Veronica and I have been thinking that we, as refugees, ought to be better represented and better organized in looking out for each other while we're here in this universe. So I've decided to form an advocacy group, made up of refugees (with the potential of adding non-refugees who are willing to help) that are willing to work together to provide support, assistance, and a political voice for everyone who comes through the tesseract.

I have a few main projects in mind to begin with: first, to set up a volunteer-run hotline (which, best case scenario, could be automatically programmed into the phones that we all carry around) for anyone to call when they're lost, hurt, or feeling threatened/harassed by anyone, regardless of whether it's related to your status as a refugee or a public fictional figure. It would require a decent number of volunteers to be on call for support and back-up. Basically, you'd just need to be motivated to help people and willing to be on-call at least a few hours a week to begin with. Depending on how many people were interested, it could potentially be even less of a time commitment, but anyone will always be welcome to take more shifts if they felt like it. I'm thinking we'd work in pairs or groups to locate and assist anyone who calls in and make sure that they get medical or legal help, if needed.

Second, I think we could stand to put an effort into making ourselves more of a positive presence here. Get the information out that we're not here by choice, that we're not trying to upset the natural balance of this universe or take it away from anyone, that we're really just trying to get along until such time as the tesseract chooses to take us back again. Doing some volunteer work and community outreach would be good, maybe passing out pamphlets or buttons to those in the community that are a bit warmer towards us, and so on. Anyone who's up for organizing or brainstorming ideas that could be good for our public image, please let me know.

Lastly, I'm also taking volunteers for a think tank on coming up with a name for the group and drawing up a charter that can be used to explain what we stand for, and so on. My ideas for names so far are either amusing or accurate, but not both. It'd be great to have some people on board who have experience with non-profits, advocacy groups, and the like; lawyers and law enforcement types certainly couldn't hurt, either. But this is open to anyone who's interested.

All that said-- whether you read that all the way through or skimmed to the bottom-- Happy Valentine's Day, everyone.

Things I learned today: While informative, watching episodes of your show on your lunch break is rarely a good idea. Especially when you learn something that keeps you distracted for an entire afternoon of SHIELD training.

Apparently my boyfriend partner lover Jack has/had the capability to become pregnant. The joys/surprises of dating an alien.

I'm assuming this is a miracle of modern medicine that has not yet been achieved here on Earth. (And pregnant transgender men don't count.)

I like Earth holidays and how they always seem to revolve around food. It reminds me a lot of home.

I am surrounded by flannel and Old Spice. On the plus side, these charming locals are convinced I'm a prostitute. Honestly. This may be Bumfuck McWilderness and times may be tough, but their figures aren't enough to cover a wink. I got more respect wearing thigh high boots and a leather bikini in a Gentleman's Club.

But it's fine, it's dandy. It's swell. After all, I have enough vodka to drown a whale. I even have some that's s'mores flavored. Because that's what camping is all about. Not that I ever willingly camped. Well, I did have s'mores at science camp but we made those over Bunsen burners.




Someone is spitting chewing tobacco. People still chew tobacco. Let me die.

All the different languages I have heard in this place are fascinating indeed. I find myself wanting to learn them all, to examine and dissect them, to perfect them where they need perfecting. I have finished my alphabet, which I believe is a great improvement over these letters that I type with, and certainly more attractive. These letters are small and rather banal, I find.

Also - I am taking orders for crafts. Jewels, jewelry, armor, and also weaving and embroidery - anything of the sort. The price will be high, as should expected of quality merchandise, but it will be well worth it.

The last time my husband got me chocolate for Valentine's Day, I gave his Aston Martin to the valet at the movie theater.
