I have news, before everyone snoops around in the background trying to find information. (Jayne, I'm looking at you.) Simon, I thought I should just update you here and I apologize for you finding out nowespecially after your dismal welcome, but one of the reasons I was so secretive about my medical history and treatment with you was because several years ago, I was diagnosed with a degenerative nerve disease. If you're willing, I'd like to have you added on to my medical team.
Apparently, the doctors from here (and the future) have found a cure. It still hasn't quite sunk in for me yet, but I started treatment for it today and I was informed by Dr. Solus and Dr. Ross that three treatments should be sufficient for a cure. I'll be sure to keep all of you updated on the progress.
In other news (and yes, I feel this ranks in importance - hush, Mal), I was invited to the New York Fashion Week, specifically one of the shows on the 9th. I was gifted a dress and two tickets for front-row seats.
What do you think, Kaylee? Will you be my date?
Have had minor progress on universal blood type project. Limitations of technology unfortunate, but more advanced than expected for Earth 2013.[End Filter]
Creates moral quandry: Introduce medical breakthroughs from Sur'Kesh and alter Earth future? What is future? Perhaps meant to make changes. Problematic. Lack of firm resource on future events. Multiple timeline residents already here. Which is correct? Which is alternate?
Am going on tangent. Would like to report current success. Have discovered technique to create sustainable blood. Tests to transport oxygen successful. Also has drawback. Too thick to properly flow through human veins. Am trying to keep explanation in simple terms. Hopefully working.
Coworker suggests alternative. Suitable diet for refugees suffering from vampirism. Suggests calling discovery "Blud." Would offer suggestion that coworker horribly uncreative with names, but interesting idea for practical use.
As it turns out this reality has a lot of vampire fiction. I suppose this is true of our own reality as well, but at home we don't typically worry about that fiction coming to life in our own backyard.
Among some of the popular sorted books, as listed by Goodreads:
- Twilight books - the 'vegetarian' vampires whom have shown up from here already, although it appears we just lost two?
- Sookie Stackhouse - whom I spoke with briefly earlier and seems to have just departed as well
- Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles - hurrah
- Dracula
- Vampire Academy
- The Historian
- Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter
- House of Night
- The Morganville Vampires
- Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (I almost want to read this, what in the blazes?)
This is not a complete list as it doesn't touch television, films, nor half of the titles listed on the Vampire Literature list on the Wikipedia. Some television and films are more or less related to some of the books, so there is some crossover but I feel as if we still need to be organized. I started with this list of popular fiction because, well, we needed to start somewhere.
» HMT would I be in DYT if I maced a tourist?
So is there something that I need to know? About these books that we come from? I want to know what happens, and I'd rather have one of you tell me instead of reading it in a damn book.
Being from the future isn't all it's cracked up to be. I just got to tell Teddy's mum that she not only has a kid, but she died during the bloody war. I feel so damn bad.
One (or more) of you needs to drink alcohol with me.
» Hey you.
» Are you alright?
All right, everyone. Tourists hanging around aren't anything out of the ordinary for me to deal with, but I know it might be different for the rest of you. Too early to tell if this is going to become an issue or not, but it's better we get it out of the way now than later. This is my version of an employee meeting. Feel lucky I'm not making you come in real early just to talk about it.
How I want us to handle it is like this. We can't force anyone out unless they start harassing someone, and if you notice them bothering one of our customers after they've told them to leave them alone, let me know so I can step in. You're allowed to talk about your own lives prior to arriving here if you're asked and if you want to talk, but everything after that is off-limits for everyone's privacy. I don't want people fishing for information they don't have a right to. And don't let any paying customers become a distraction, no matter who they are. If I notice someone taking up too much of your time, we'll be having a talk.
And if you know anyone looking for a waitress job, we've could use one now that Sookie's gone.
HOW are you lovely girls today? I was thinking, and please don't blast me, but we should have a girls' night. Virgin daiquiris and pina coladas and lots of chocolate. I'm really anxious to get all of us in the same room to gab and maybe I could take a measuring tape to you guys so I could use you as guinea pigs for new clothes!
- i'm sorry you're continually dealing with the aftermath of my bullshit.
- feb 9-12: blah blah nyc fashion week. brazilian carnival. we could do that AND mardi gras on the 12th. please please please. potts, don't make me beg.
- i'm working on some suit-related things. i'll show you soon.
- this begs the question of whether we should be thinking about our own conference. nothing like the expo. scientific-types only. i may even show up sober on most days.
- do you want me to distract the tourists in the tower?
