Dec. 27th, 2015

I guess it's that time we're all supposed to decide what we're going to change about yourselves for 2016, right?

[Nymphadora Tonks, May Parker]
I know that Stark gave us Monday off, but if you two are available at all, I'm going to be in the lab, and could use a hand on Tuesday.
[Bruce Banner (MCU)]
I'm particularly interested in your New Years Resolutions

2015 christmas gifts

Who: The whole game!
When: Leading up to Christmas
Where: Under tree. Delivered with bows. Handed to a person. Whatever!
What: Christmas presents!
Rating: Who knows!

Because this game is massive, and even if every character just sent ONE package to anyone, it would end up being so many posts that it would overrun the game. So to save our friends lists from imploding, we the moderators are asking that you fill out this form and reply HERE. It'll make it easier to find (Control-F is a lovely thing!) and we won't have to abuse our scroll button.

Here's how we're going to do it. You will post for one character with everything that they got for their friends/family/etc. Make sure to tag your character and all the characters that yours gave gifts to as soon as you get their information up!

In recognition of the time it can take to determine IC gifts, (properly tagged) gifts can count as a piece of activity for the gifting character for the month of December.

Christmas Shopping? Off my To-Do list. And I'm telling you all this to guilt you into action. The sooner you get it done and over with, the sooner you don't have to think about it. And if you're looking for some great gift ideas, well, I can't help you.

But I will wish you luck.

[Steve Rogers (MCU)]
I don't know how to wrap your present, man so you can have it early. So here I got you a goat for other people.
[Bruce Banner (MCU)]
Haven't heard much from you lately, doc. What's the matter, not in the mood for the holly jolly season?

Finally, some decorations worth celebrating: Invader knows which Ninja Turtle is the best Ninja Turtle. (Can there be any argument? There cannot.)

He is, appropriately, happily ensconced over Artichoke Basille's on 10th Av. His lesser friends appear to be scattered in as-yet unknown (to me) locations across the city, but they don't get any pizza.

The machines are beautiful
more perfect than man
and the must be kept running
any way they can.

The machines are beautiful
And workers mere slaves
Machines will still be running
When we're deep in our graves

The machines are beautiful
Creation of man
They're the strength of the city
They're the heart of the plan
They show no emotion
They will always obey
Machines will still be running
Through the night through the day

So let's culturally appropriate some wizards. If you were a Harry Potter wizard (and are not a Harry Potter wizard), what House would you be sorted into?

I'm pretty sure Steve Rogers doesn't have to take this test, because he probably invented Hufflepuff, but what about the rest of you?

It's Gryffindor, for me. Which, probably the red and gold armour should have been my first clue.

Words cannot express how deeply, deeply apathetic I am to the over-scripted, under-salted, utterly contentless display of battling non sequiturs that is the televised political debate. What anyone thinks there is to be gained from watching people try to shove their prefabricated square-shaped answers into the round spaces of whatever question - on whatever topic! - happens to be posed by the moderator is completely beyond me. The fact that it's considered worthwhile, or, worse, a civic duty, to watch two hours of a bunch of people practicing the art of saying as little as possible is, as usual, a triumph of the advertising arms of the one-armed megacorps that we've allowed to be very nearly the sole providers the "data" (note scare quotes) that nourishes public opinion. These things thrive because they've managed to train up a nation of consumers to swallow a whole lot of nothing and consider themselves satisfied. That they're entrusted with any aspect of the political process aside from providing the fiber optic cable network (which, by the way, ought to be nationalized) over which actual statements could theoretically be transmitted if, you know, anyone ever made any, is a travesty.

When victory is measured in not making yourself look like an idiot, the contest you're fighting isn't worth being in. It certainly isn't worth tuning into.

In more pleasant news, my bid is in to name this little guy Trinitas.

Hey buddy, I built you a present. I figured I could unveil it as a prototype during the Expo, but you know. I want your expert opinion.

I think we can all agree that this signals the death of traditional print media. None too soon. Don't let the door hit you on the way out, etc.

Not that a certain level of willful cultural illiteracy wasn't always necessary to work at the New York Times, but - really. (Also, they can get off their high horse.)

Nominees for a new paper of record welcomed herein. I vote for FiveThirtyEight.

Ask yourself: Do you need a job?

Would you be happy working in an environment with an important business policy that promotes wellness, small and other local businesses, healthy living, and offers a living wage?

And, would you like to work at a place right here, in Potts Tower to cut down on your own transportation costs and carbon footprint? Well, look no further.

In two weeks time Cafe Orange will be opening right here in Potts Tower. It's a Free Trade, Farm-to-Table cafe featuring only organic foods with absolutely no GMOs. Right now, I'm looking for servers out of the residents, before opening it up to other people in the city.

You can find more information about the restaurant, including the menu, right here! If you're interested or have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch with me :)

You've been in New York (or at least the states) for a while now. It seems to be sticking this time. Should I be shocked? Or worried?

Since no one signed up for Astrophysics, (you people disgust me) I'm going to add Calculus to the classes I teach. Everyone should sign up. This is the only time I'll tell you not to listen to Leslie Knope. It's important. Learn your number theory.

Students in my class, and anyone else who is interested, I recommend the following books to get you started: Here's Looking at Euclid and The Grapes of Math. If anyone has trouble getting a hold of either book, I have spare copies.

There's something refreshing about gaining a personality so close to your own. And this time, it was. Something will throw me for a loop eventually, it always does. And this time it'll be like, "We're so similar, but you whaaaaaaat?" only in conversation with myself instead of anyone else. So, if you spot the difference, let me know. But there have been a few things on my to do list, I just haven't gotten done, and now I am. And yes, if you're wondering, I did spend a couple hours on Labor Day cleaning. It's good to live in a clean place.

Hello, so you don't know me. We haven't met. But I was hoping you'd have a minute or two to talk about the rings of power you won at the tesseract themed auction/raffle event a few months back. I meant to talk with you back then, but you were out of the country, then you were out of the country even more. Saving the world is good stuff, thanks for that. I'm completely anti-apocalypse. Which I could use to segue, buuut that could get awkward. I saw you posted that you were back. And I'm really wanting to cross things off my to do list, and hey, contacting you is on there.

If you're willing to listen, I'd like to explain why I'd like to have one of the elven rings.

Coffee?

You actually don't seem like much of a coffee person. I picked up a good yerba mate when I was down south last?

So have we figured out if they're drug smugglers yet? They don't look like drug smugglers, but then - I might be biased!
