How does anyone get a job here that can actually support themselves without a college education or relevant work experience in the field? We're lucky we don't have to pay for these apartments, or many of us would be really shit out of luck.

This is how people get sucked into doing things they don't really want to be doing, because they don't think they have a choice, and often, they don't. We got trapped this way on the Ark, too. We all had a part to play to keep it going, we'd do what our parents did, or we'd start training young because we were good at whatever it was. I was never g Or we'd do things we weren't proud of because it meant we'd see another day, or it meant having food on the table. It's not any different here, but I can't even say I'm surprised. The only thing I'm remotely qualified for is a security guard or soldier. I don't know a damn thing about waiting tables or working in an office. Having spent the last two days analyzing the idea of the bomb, the arguments for and against it, there are major concerns with building a weapon so powerful. The Judge sees what we do, what is done on earth. If we build it, he will know. And if that is our reaction to being judged, we will be condemned before we can make any case for the planet. Then, we will need to use it. If it temporarily incapacitates the Judge, that does not solve our problem. If it kills the Judge, other Celestials will come. More of them. They will wipe us out, or we will have to use so many bombs that we destroy what we defend. But should it go our way, if it is used, HYDRA will want it, and while they're not Starks, it is difficult to keep them away from it entirely. And if we do not, what do we do with a bomb that can destroy the planet?

If it comes to fighting, it comes down to us. We have always been more important than our weapons. And we only risk ourselves.

I'd hate to make plans to keep, oh, living.

I had a meeting with my advisor today, and it was lovely to be out and about the city today. It finally feels as if Spring is trying to make an appearance, and it truly is time for that to happen. But I did have an interesting conversation about the courses that I'm taking, and about the courses I expect to take in future. He also mentioned that I should contemplate declaring my major, so that the classes I take in autumn are beneficial and relevant to my intended area of study.

That leads me to a quandary, however. I had planned, as I did the last time I was here, on focusing on creative writing for my major area of study. And I do plan on doing that, but for some reason, it doesn't seem to be enough. I have so many areas of interest and to explore only one of them seems... not ideal. But I understand that it can be difficult finding employment on the strength of a degree in creative writing, English, or even history, unless one is prepared to attend university for many years after the initial degree. I am willing, of course, but I simply don't know what I wish to do.
