I was told today that I am not 'elf' enough. I am not certain how much more 'elf' I am supposed to be than what I already am.

Snow is actually rather pretty in Central Park. I went for a morning run and it was just gorgeous. Also decided to splurge on myself and took a carriage ride. Best thing ever. You learn so much, my driver Ariel, was the best tour guide ever. I got to see places in the park I never knew about. Seriously, best non-training thing I've ever done. ( Image behind cut )

I took Gus out on a walk around in the snow. I took him out of the stroller so that he could touch and feel the snow in his hands. He absolutely loved it. Now we are home and he's playing while I'm sipping on some hot chocolate. Its a perfect day.

Looks like a day for movies and hot cocoa. Anyone want to join me?

I don't know if I'll enjoy the Super Bowl, but I can say with absolutely certainty that I am enjoying the Kitten Bowl, and I will probably also enjoy the Puppy Bowl when it is on in a little while. I do have to admit that this is making me want a cat, though. But not a kitten, though. I think an older cat would be preferable.

I must mention, though, that I have come into possession of some new powers, which makes it difficult to interact with people as I normally do. I am still at the youth center, though, but expect me to be not as present for a short while I continue to understand my powers and learn to control them. I will be wearing gloves in public, but but aware that if you visit me at home, I won't be, and so touching me, skin on skin, will result in vertigo for you for the duration of our contact.

Speaking of, if there is anyone who is willing to help me to learn to understand and control my powers, I would be very appreciative, and will of course compensate you for your time.

Others have been preparing for the Superbowl. It's a truly quiet almost dead time in Fangtasia. Sundays are never our busiest days on less snowy football-less weekends to begin with. As such, I've been putting thought into our wedding. I want to announce it in the New York Times, which has a remarkable number of guidelines. My hometown doesn't even exist here, but given it's fully verifiable information, I'm sure they'll accept it. There is a symmetry to having our eyebrows photographed on the same level. It's aesthetically pleasing, and it would be lovely to save many copies of that issue. I don't know whether or not we'll be able to win the Vows Column, but I have already started on the second half of it.

My mind's been swirling on the date. If it's the summer, I was thinking June or September. It's so much hotter in July and August. But five months isn't that much time to plan a wedding. But it's doable, definitely manageable. What do you think? I might accidentally plan the whole thing without realizing I haven't asked you. And it is your wedding too.

One year anniversary coming up, February 15th. And I know it's all romance and glorious times for many couples downstairs, good times for singles upstairs on the 14th. But I want to do something special for our one year anniversary. It's a Sunday, a slowish day, but that also means we can do what we want and not drive business away if it's too crazy. So while I've had some ideas for a while, none of them seem like Just the Right Thing to Do. So I'm open to suggestions.

It's really 2015. It only ever completely settles on me that it's a new year once we reach the second month. It's not as though I've been writing the wrong year until now, but it really feels like it. I've also been doing an amazing job at staying calm. No Bridezilla moments. It's almost a miracle.

In eleven days time, I'll have called this place my own for a whole years time. And what a year it's been. I've a club and restaurant up and running -- stunningly successful, I'd say, for a vanity project -- I've had the blessed opportunity to reconnect with old friends. It's been an interesting and appreciated semi-retirement.

And of course I'm grateful for you refugee chaps like me who've made so much in making me feel welcome here, and the good old boys and lovely ladies here who do what they can to help us all.

So friends, new or old, intimate or barely-acquainted, drop in this week at Kamchatka Peninsula. Ask for me by name; It'll get you in the door and I'll buy you a drink.

I know that I have been out of commission for almost three months now. Given the issues with my health, Director Brand has stepped up above and beyond the call of duty for this organization. As have all of you. These are not circumstances that any of us could have predicted and with still no clear answer to the White Event you are truly the hardest working organization in this world.

I've been released from medical and will be returning in limited capacity this month. It's a decision we don't take lightly, given the difficulties I have had. Director Brand is still entirely in charge while I'm working to get back up to speed. Given the situation it may take a few months or even longer, we will have to see.

But I think Han mentioned something about a welcome back party? I think we've all earned a party.

I am so sorry for my behavior yesterday. I'm not entirely sure what kind of magical influence came over me, but it began to lift as soon as I got out of my apartment. I feel much more like myself today. Rereading what I wrote last night, I'm horrified, and I want to make it very clear that those were not my true thoughts on the matter.

I believe that hope is the most powerful force in the universe by far. I believe that family is a bond no dark magic or mysterious blue cube can break. I believe love isn't always easy (as I proved to my loved ones last night), but it is so worth it. And I believe that we were brought to this world for a reason beyond the Tesseract: for all the good that we can do together while we're here.

I love my children, and as co-director of the Potts Tower Youth Center I love all the children our community has been blessed with. Every day I'm lucky enough to watch them learn and grow -- and I can't wait to see what they do with their lives because I know it'll be great.

I hope my hurtful words last night won't discourage any of you from trusting us with their care, or from attending our parenting group tomorrow. It's been so fulfilling to listen to your experiences and to share mine. I can assure you that the Mary Margaret leading the meeting will be the one you've known for the nine months I've been here, not the one you met last night. I won't deny that I've had dark periods where I briefly lost hope before, but I love this tower and the life we've all built here. That hasn't changed, I promise.

Why are so many of your shops filled with so much red and pink? There must be a reason, but I have yet to encounter anyone who takes my questions seriously and can answer them thoroughly. Surely someone must be used to people not understanding this world's customs. How else are we meant to understand the world we're living in?

My name's Blaine, and this ... isn't quite the New York I know.

Now, I'm not one to sit idly here and do nothing. But, my curiosity got the better of me today and I discovered that the box in my room displays pictures, sort of like Gandalf's magic and how that would work. Quite charming, actually. It's just a box, but it had many interesting pictures on it.

One picture seemed to be some sort of game, though I didn't understand nearly enough of it here. Something about tossing a ball around, but I don't see how that's important to anything. To each their own, then, I suppose. The box is interesting enough.

Perhaps I can tinker with it to see what other pictures will display on it. I don't know if it is magic, though, since I can use it and I'm certainly no wizard.
