I've been putting off this post for several weeks as I struggled to deal with what it meant to me personally, but I can no longer do that. It's not fair to those of you who love her too. You should all be aware that Peggy Carter, the version that did not come through the Tesseract, is struggling more and more with awareness as she has come into the late stages of Alzheimer's. She rarely lives in the now and requires much more on-site care as she has begun to forget things like whether or not she's eating, how to eat, or when it's time to use the restroom. While she still lives in the same apartment in the care facility, she has a nurse who spends a good deal of her time with her. I've been told that

Days were we'd make it through the battle and stop losing soldiers. But I guess that only does go for so long.

I've been feeling a mite nostalgic, but I was thinking of heading to Vazacs before we leave town.

Well, attempts to make our own cider have begun at the ranch. Never thought I'd be able to say that. I suppose it's good that you're never too old to try and learn something new.


I try to keep up on space news while I'm here. Can't quite leave it behind. Mars just got buzzed by a comet. While the tech here is still a ways off from what we were capable of, I'm impressed by how far things are moving along.

We've done a fair about of classroom activity for this course and I wanted to know if any of you would be up for a tactics war game of sort. Perhaps a weekend event. We could do it either as just our class or open it up to other. It'd be like the nerf war but with more strategy and challenge.

It's October, and I learned a long time ago that it's dangerous to dress up on Halloween cause sometimes you can be your costume. Long story, or really not that long, more like 45 minutes if you want to watch it on Netflix, ANYWAY - the point is...

I think you should dress up for not Halloween, this Saturday night, and come over to my apartment, where we can eat pizza, play games, watch movies, eat cookies, and maybe cookie dough, and drink things.

Let me know if you can make it so I have enough pizza for everyone.

I figure the best way to figure out the 'which costume should I wear?' question, is to have opportunity to wear more than one costume. =D

I haven't actually dressed up for Halloween in ages. Wizards don't do it back home and even when I lived with Muggles, I was never exactly given a costume or anything. It feels sort of surreal to be living somewhere that expects me to get up in a costume to celebrate.

That said, I haven't actually picked one out, yet, so I'm open to suggestions.

My Netflix queue is empty. I need rec, preferably for things that don't feature people who live here now, because there's something weird about marathoning Buffy and then, you know, potentially running into a Slayer in the elevator or at Starbucks or something.

Thank you to everyone who came to the small party Anna threw for me yesterday evening. It was truly wonderful meeting you all, and it eases those worries that seem to come along with learning to find your place in an entirely new world. I feel as if the only thing that will hold me back, for now, is the lack of a modern education. I'm, naturally, thoroughly educated by the standards of my time, but the truth is that there is so much more to learn and I don't really even know where to start.

I suppose the next lesson in my cultural education will be Halloween, which has a fascinating history, even though I am not familiar with the cultures that shaped it, from its earliest days to the present day. I do find it amusing that children are able to dress in costume and be rewarded for it -- but I wonder, what is the reward for adults? And how does one choose a costume and do so without offending any one culture -- that would be a terrible thing to do, and I wish to avoid it at all costs.
