The Doorway: a panfandom game

Being quarantined does give one plenty of time to muse over terrible decisions that the future will invariably bring.

The question then begged is do those decisions carry over to this world as well. We will all eventually become that person, even if we aren't yet. If we seek out what is familiar to us, do we risk setting ourselves down a tragically similar path or does the foresight this place affords us act as a barrier?

Is it hubris to hope for the latter?

On the way back through Potts Tower, I stopped in Nolita for breakfast. It is not our typical neighbourhood, but judging by the number of sharkskin suits funneling into a closed restaurant across the way, we may not be getting a fair picture staking out Maggia holdings only in Brooklyn.

So I have been in discussions with a local actor school for the past few weeks about getting a job there and as of this morning I am now employed to teach the advance acting class. I can't think of anything I'd prefer to do more while I am here.

Of course with this lockdown, I had to inform them I didn't know when I would be starting but as soon as it is lifted that I was more than happy to do so. Thankfully, they were fine with that.

I'll never say I looked to better men for inspiration, rather I looked to men with better words (and unfortunate first names) as is the case with Rudyard Kipling:

You (or...the other you that was here before) were friends. It's weird that you don't remember, since I've been here over a year. Actually, closer to a year and a half. You were my sassy blonde friend and kinda kept me sane when my best friend came and went, and then a different best friend came and went.

A few months ago I approached many of you to create a loose network of women who were involved within the sciences within this world.

I still think this would be a worthy idea to pursue. There are some of us refugees that have become more established within our careers and several more native scientists that have shown up on the network. If anyone is still interested, I would not be adverse to starting up gathering for us all to discuss our mutual interests and successes here.

Perhaps brunch to start?
