Finally, my luck's turned around. Upscale working mother needs a nanny (not live-in, thankfully) to take care of her out-of-school from 8 until whenever she arrives home. Two small children - one boy, one girl - and they're both Doctor Who fans who pressured their mother into having me. Bless their little hearts.

Starting Monday, I'll have a job that I really like again.

I have rarely understood the human concept of humour and today is no different. Is there an explanation for the following image, which I found pinned to the door of my laboratory this afternoon?

Soooooooooo, I'm guessing we're aware on some level that something's going on with the bearded guy on TV threatening the safety of all mankind? Is there some sort of movement in our group to, uh, deal with that? I'm in the dark here, but since there's, like, a hoard of us around, I figured maybe we should talk before we end up tripping over each other because OMG it's something to fight.

Levity aside, I also just wanted to throw out there that Osb I think we should definitely be watching Osborn. I don't have the hard proof to point at and condemn the guy, and I'm not saying to go ransack his penthouse or leaving a bag of flaming dog poop in front step of Oscorp, but I'm dead sure he's making moves from his high tower. A few of us were running into people dosed with some sort of mutagen. On repeat. Think we put a nice dent in those operations, and it's been quiet since, but god only knows how long before it starts again and where things go next. Just so you guys know. I'm gonna keep my sights on anything that even halfway looks like his work, but you guys needed to know.

You know what is weird? Thinking in two dimensions. I enrolled to learn how to drive vehicles here and I keep messing up. I think I'm driving my instructor nuts Any tips. Because right now I think his tip is, please stop trying to drive. The car does not go up or down or go that fast.

The broadcast last night made me wish I was more familiar with the computers of this world, and more than a light duty slicer.

I understand that I don't have the touchstones (in this world) to recognise or respond to potential threats in the way that some of the residents of this tower -- particularly if these residents have 'super powers' and are accustomed to battling overblown rhetoric and violent imagery with any regularity -- but I do know a terrorist when I see one. I do understand what it means to be a connoisseur of fear and to have such self-aggrandised delusions regarding oneself that they overtake all of the airwaves ...

But -- hear me out, here.

There is a point. As much as I rail against being called a lamb, there is a purpose to making this society think on its sins. I would hazard to say that this person will get there eventually. I hope it's sooner rather than later.

Still and yet. We've every reason to listen.

Well my apartment smells less like Gremlin urine now. So that's a plus. Although last night I watched the Princess Bride with the modern day versions of Elizabeth Bennett and her sisters and that was something I never thought I'd say. Due to that though I didn't see this whole Mandarin business until this morning, is this something we should be worrying about?

How's the job front going with everyone?

All right, so first things first: I got my new Twitter account setup. You can follow me at The_Spider_Girl, but fair warning, I tweet a lot. A lot.

I've been so busy lately that I feel like I've hardly had any chance to breathe. But it feels good. I didn't realize how antsy I was getting, and I feel like I'm getting back to me now. Which is weird and a little depressing, because I don't think I've had a chance to really think about me since I was nine or so.

Anyway, this weekend Southern California is calling me again, and next weekend is NYC Pride, and I'm really excited about both of those. If you missed the invitation before, I'm heading down to the rally next Friday (it starts at 7 pm, but I want to be there early). Luckily, we're all of a ten-fifteen minute walk away from where everything is happening. Saturday night is the ladies-only party, and Sunday's the festival and march. You don't have to march with me if you don't want to, but there will be some of us there, and I'd love to have you if you're interested. Otherwise, you're welcome to just walk up there with us and find a good place to watch. Hit me up, and I'll let you know where we're meeting and the times. And for those of you who have no idea what I'm talking about, I'd be happy to answer questions! Or someone else will.

And how weird was that thing last night? I missed it live, but I caught it online later. I don't know what to make of it, but it's weird as hell.

I would hate to intrude onto anything, but I was wondering. How does one get their infant son here? Is there a way that I could get my baby boy Gus to join me here? I miss him dearly and I haven't been here for a while. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
