» I don't know if you've seen the notice yet, but.
» Not!Ruby went home. Or wherever people go when they leave here.
» And on a related note that we can pretend is unrelated I'm out getting more beer. Anything else you want?

In uncertain times such as these, it's at least comforting to know that I still lack the culinary finesse to even properly make a bit of toast.

Is there anyone not attending the prom who might be interested in doing something?

I do not mind fan fiction about me or my crewmates. I care little for the alien sex pollen 'have sex or die' stories, but this story is even worse. It purports to be about Admiral Pike and Christine, but they are in name only. The names could be changed to anything else, to be an original story, and there would be no loss. It might be better then, for not pretending to be about them.

Having seen several waves of people come and go from this place, I've come to the conclusion that there is no one I particularly care to see on the arrivals listing.

The flu is the worst thing in the world! I'm really glad I'm over it, because yuck. Being sick is the worst!

Everyone's been talking about this prom they're having here in the tower. I never got to go to prom, not since I dropped out to go to the Institute before I was old enough to go. I guess if I hadn't gone to Pandemonium that night I would have gone with Simon.

Even if I hadn't, though, Mom would probably still be

I can't bring myself to look it up, but my mom. Do we [...] Does she ever wake up? She's still in the coma where I came from. That's why I was in Idris, to look for someone who could help her.

Hey, I was wondering if you needed any help with decorations for the prom? I'd be happy to lend my art skills if you need any help!

What's this prom business? Everyone keeps talking about it and asking about dates, dresses, and suits.

Am I suppose to ask Clary?

Since my arrival (and after I was quite sure I would not be catching a virus) I've been spending a great deal of my time at the American Museum of Natural History.

With my personal interest in -- and an understanding of == the migration of birds, I thought I should spend some time studying what I should expect to see around the skies the city and state. When I can recognise those, spotting any visitors becomes simple. I'm due to back later this afternoon, I spoke with one of the museum curators and they agreed to let me take a closer look at a few of their newer acquisitions. I'm quite thrilled, really -- and I would recommend the museum to anyone, of course.

Jack, would you like to come see it? There is a hall filled with ocean life. I intend to install you there as part of the permanent collection.

I know there's a Society of Displaced Rebels Against Kings and Rulers around here, which ain't exactly what I'm looking for. Let's see if I can phrase this right. I ain't knocking it. But I'd like to start a group that's more me? Displaced Military something something?

Meaning, I ain't a rebel. I do as I'm told, even if they turn out to be things I ain't ever gonna be proud of. There ain't an officer out there who's got some regrets about something in their military careers. Some even got more than just a few. Reckon you just learn to live with it. But yes, I do as I'm told. Mostly. I improvise a lot, okay? I got a list of medals, ribbons and recommendations that's longer than my forearm. I salute the flag. When the National Anthem comes up, I stand up. I always stood up, regardless of whether I was bedridden or in a wheelchair. That's how I rolled. Literally, once upon a time. And yes, my doctors gave me some serious side eye for even trying.

I've just come from an alternate timeline where I was stranded, basically in a witness program where I was forbidden to rejoin the military, fly anything or even talk about my experiences in Stargate. I ain't gonna do that again. I flat out refuse.

And I miss my job. My original timeline. Because. It's normal.

Pft,they're just looking at me funny because we got beat up. But we WON!

But I know I'm not alone.

And if this just turns out as a group where we war veterans just talk about our experiences, that's okay too.

So since pretty much everyone here is some sort of future astrophysics genius or wizard or something. Can anyone explain how this works? Not that I have hair for it, but it seemed a bit unbelievable even by infomercial standards.

Okay I put out files for THREE choices for your new assistant. Not that I won't be around anyway :P Because I will be. But they're all from this world so no getting stuck with us getting someone trained on how you like your coffee and having them sent back a week later.

You're not getting rid of me completely though. Weekends, probably 10 hours during the week. Enough to make sure you feed and water yourself, etc.

I have gathered that this prom is ever much a party as it is a dance.

I offer my services of magic and mysticism for the event should it be needed. A small payment will be required

I also like to think myself an exception dance partner should the need to practice be necessary!

I bought myself a Netflix account because Mad Men is, and I've spent all day watching a series of films that I could probably have gone another hundred years never knowing about.

Althought I realise -- anyone whose spend ten minutes looking up the ageing process of James Wilby or Cary Elwes will probably understand exactly why I did what I did. Hm.

I have a question for you, Darling.

I am bored. I have nothing to do. I am not used to this.

I am a fighter, a soldier, a King of the Eldar, yet here I am expected to be quiet and spend my time doing things that entertain Men.

I am not of the Edain. Different things catch my interest.

And a city of noise and smoke that is disconnected from everything to do with beauty and nature is not one of them.

Tch. I have no wish to live in a world of Men.

I wish to learn to shoot the thing you call 'gun.' I have only one hand, however, and so I want to know what difficulty I will have with this endeavor. I am also left handed, by necessity, as the right is missing.

I am a soldier in all things. I think it is best to learn a new skill, as you find fighting with a sword and shield to be outdated. Though I do not think I will have reason to fight in this place. I simply enjoy learning.

I think that I need to acquire such weapons in order to practice with them, but I know nothing of them, or what would be good for my purposes. In Beleriand is it not illegal to carry weapons. Aye, you would be stupid not to and likely end up dead for your idiocy if you go without. But New York City has very different laws and I am not very familiar with many of them. The Google yields results, but I am not sure I trust the information I read.

If you, like me, are feeling a bit raw over the recent departures, I was thinking it would be nice if we all spent some time together. I'm going to make a big dinner, so everyone is welcome to come around to our apartment tonight and have some food and a few drinks, where we can think about our beloved friends who have gone home.

Come around 6, bring something if you'd like. I'd welcome the distraction.

I haven't been as social sinceIt seems that a lot of us have no trouble remembering to check this network. I've been spending most of my time trying to find a new job, and I have been too exhausted to type.

What have I missed? Any trending topics that I should have a say in?

For as long as I have been here, I am still not used to having strangers ask me for my autograph. Though I'm not entirely sure if they know who their asking, me or the actress that portrays me in those movies. I'm not sure if they even care.

I have to say, with the number of Avengers we've gotten from other realities, I'm actually pretty happy not to have gotten a double yet.

Though it might help with managing all these superheroes.

I know it's a few days early, but lord knows with our schedules we both might forget on Wednesday.

Happy birthday.

Want to have a few drinks to celebrate, time permitting?
