Will whoever is playing the wall-rattling hip hop kindly turn it down? I am finding it difficult to make my repose.

Many thanks.

Seeing Earth-That-Was in its prime is incredible.

I'm told that I know people here.

I'm also told there's various numbers of doctors, and those in the medical profession, along with numerous ways to offer assistance.

I'm not sure what else to say.

It's snowing! But I'm sure everyone probably noticed that on their own through their windows.

I have a question though and thought that I would ask it here since everyone comes from different kinds of backgrounds and cultures and things. In those different backgrounds do you have any kinds of people or places that are relating to water or the ocean that would be good names for a boy? I had done a little bit of research and I made a list but thought that maybe other people would have different ideas from their own experiences.

My list right now is:

Jonah - a man that was eaten by a whale or large fish and survived after a few days
Noah - a man that built a large boat before a flood
Sebastian - the crab from the movie about the mermaid
Eric - the prince in the same movie about the mermaid
Nemo - the little fish in that other movie

Monstro - whale in Pinocchio
Utnapishtim - survived great flood by building a large boat
Raleigh - explorer
Drake - explorer
Heath - explorer
Magellan - explorer
Melbourne - planet with oceans and fish
Felix - can make penguins
Perseus - Greek hero
Voronwë - means "steadfast one"

It's not a very long list right now. If you have ideas though that would be really nice!

I am looking for recommendations on novels written post-1965; I have discovered the library and would like to acquaint myself with the new literature of this time period.

My husband I did not own a television, so I'm not keen on television shows. Nor do I have the desire to watch them I'm deeply interested in British novels, though children's literature of any kind would be a delight.

I am both amused and perplexed that events of my childhood have been depicted in several novels. For those curious, clothing rationing had just ended in Great Britain in 1949 - was it any wonder I was excited about that, about looking to the future instead of the childhood folly of the past? There were so many wonderful, happy parties in '49 as we celebrated getting parts of our lives back, pieces of life the boys and girls my age had all been denied under the war, not, as the book so vapidly suggests, 'racing towards the silliest time of one's life as quick as I could.'

If that's guilty of a crime against the coward-lion Aslan, punishable by having my entire family stripped from me, than the coward-god Aslan isn't any being I want to have anything to do with.

Vegetarian vampires The ridiculousness of this universe has no boundaries

Every time I am convinced that I have seen all this world has to offer, I am proven incorrect. I suppose something profound might be said about this place teaching tolerance.

I am embarrassed for them And patience.

What's next? Spelling bee succubi? Yetis who yodel?

No matter how it strains credulity.

So I see there's a lot of people who seem to enjoy kicking each others ass with weapons and hand to hand combat. I'm not knocking it. But does anyone like to play football? Minus the piles of gear.

Pro tip: never take anything from a fan. Especially if it's a drink.

Just trust me on this one, okay?

After a lot of organization and the kindness and hard work of Mr. Stark and Ms. Potts, I will be opening up a clinic on the first floor of the tower. It will be opening officially the beginning of next week and will also be one of the only areas of the tower open to the public.

It's just me at the moment. But I welcome anyone who is willing to help out, if you have a background in healing or not. Though there is not much money in it, I'll admit, as most of what we make is going to be going straight back into the clinic itself.

Still I'm excited that I'll have the opportunity to help those of us pulled from our worlds and maybe give us the opportunity to help those who were born here as well.

Given the fresh stream of arriving self-professed vampire hunters, I think it fair to state that you will not be hunting myself, nor any of the other supernaturals who have been pulled from their various universes to this one. Should you attempt to do so, we will be having a conversation, and should you feel yourself above a conversation, we will be having a confrontation. I predict that you will prefer the former to the latter.

There is every manner of creature here through no fault of their own. No one would argue that the Living have one nature, despite their overwhelming propensity toward violence. Ergo, I despise the notion that all who are neither of the Living nor the Dead must lurk about awaiting an errant toddler to devour. I won't insult your intelligence and deny my (personal) food preference, but as I do not comment when you fill your gullets with preservative-laden chemicals, I ask that you show me the same respect. Incidentally, while SHIELD has been most generous with their offerings, blood bags are not a perfect solution for all creatures. I trust that SHIELD keeps a close eye on its guests to ensure that no harm comes to the populace of New York. You should trust that likewise.

I have not killed anyone who did not try to kill me first in a very long time. It is not a streak I care to break. I prefer to make new acquaintances. Consequently, I thank you for your tolerance and wish you a good evening.

For last year's words belong to last year's language
And next year's words await another voice.

T.S. Eliot wrote that in his Four Quartets.

I think I will have a quiet evening of getting lost in the crowd in Times Square. Have a safe New Year's, one and all.

New Year's is a concept somewhat lost to me. A particular date is not requirement to change oneself. In fact, it is a hindrance, because it implies a start and a stop. A significant change should be encompassing if it is to be meaningful.

I do love that song that the Living sing, though - Auld Lang Syne. A wistful tune for the holiday season.

You had asked for literature selections. You cannot go wrong with:

Hendregadredd manuscript: A collection of Welsh poems dating back to 1282
The Romance of the Grail: One of the many romances dealing with stories of the Holy Grail; it fits in neatly with Arthurian canon
The Divine Comedy: Though I assume you have already read it, given your interest in Old Jack. If you wish for additional insight with the medieval (or rather, proto-Renaissance) language, please let me know.
Liberality and Prodigality: A morality tale; a bit dry but historically relevant as it showcases how the character of Justice is regarded less as a theological ideal and more of an enforceable mundane law.
The Second Shepherds' Pageant: A play, but well-worth your time as it is very-much removed from the stoic sternness one might associate with the nativity. In fact, it's rather bawdy.

If you have difficulty obtaining copies of the above, please let me know and I will see if I can provide them. My library did not come through the Tesseract, but I am confident that that is little matter.

I've officially found the best burrito in town at La Esquina Taqueria. Jesus I didn't know what I was missing in my life. Anyone know where I can find the best burger in New York City now? Greasier the better.

[FILTERED TO SAMMY]
Got swarmed by a mob. They alternated between calling me Jensen and Dean so I guess I've got a face twin running around somewhere. Think it could be a shapeshifter again? Either way, at least half of them definitely knew who I was. Also, who in the hell is Castiel?

[added later]
Google-fu me everything you can about Katherine Danvers. That's the Ruby look-alike. I'm not sure she's Ruby, Sammy, or Lillith.

Ugh. So. I've been looking into re-establishing professional and personal networks here, and I'm going to reach out to everyone else for a moment.
  • A. It is apparently a tremendous pain in the culo to get a New York State Driver's License. Do you see all those hoops they want? A five hour class? Book an appointment three to six months in advance? I have a New Jersey License, but something tells me residing in Gotham City might spring a few flags here. Is that even valid? I mean, I know how to drive, but would that license be valid here?
  • B. Started in on the NYPD application procedure. At least that's a bit more streamlined. So Morgan. Look for Company soon.
  • C. Insofar as how everyone's adjusting. I know back in Gotham, I had a group I went to about once a week. I've checked Intergroup here, and over the past two weeks been to probably seven or so different meetings in the area. Open, Closed, Big Book, Steps, Womens' only, Spanish language, LGBT, you name it and I'm not finding a decent fit. Maybe I'm not being patient enough. But I'd say right now the biggest issue I'm dealing with is being ripped out of my dimension by some blazing blue box into a world that's like mine but different. And I don't think that's something a lot of people at these groups are getting. So I'm going to reach out and maybe say a bit more than I should about my personal life. But if anyone else here is in recovery and would be interested in forming a group that meets once a week or so, that'd be great.
  • D. Yoga is daaaaamn expensive in this city. But I found a gym a bit more towards midtown that's 12$ a class if anyone's been looking for one.

So that's that. Still looking for a decent church, and have some shopping to get done, but this city isn't half so unconquerable as TV says it is.

It's fascinating to see which traditions stick, which evolve, and which are forgotten to time. I dismissed the mistletoe as holiday frippery, but it's still quite popular. I doubt anyone these days could describe a proper La Mas Ubhal without putting it to their smart telephone. I suppose the Christmas tree might persist, though it is quite young. Only three-hundred years before and someone would call you a Prussian barbarian if you thought it proper to hack up some arbor and decorate it with painted toys and sugar ornaments, but the Living seem to enjoy the notion now.

I suggest that those wishing to partake in the festivities take care to watch their belongings, and do not go out alone at night.

There are many who would take advantage of a merry soul, even in this Holy month.

This might be a strange question so -- so sorry if it's a bit sensitive or if um, it's weird, or anything but.

Is everyone here dead?

Also, hi! Hi! I'm Annie! I'm new!

...I keep waving at my computer screen, but I guess you can't see that so, yes! Hello! I've always wanted to go to New York! I just didn't think I'd see it like this. I didn't think this would be... like this on the other side of the door

Good afternoon. My name is Silas. I will be acting as your Curriculum Advisor in the manner of study that you wish to undertake. I understand that this sort of thing goes best with dining, so if you are interested and able, let's visit a "pizza" place tomorrow evening at 8:00pm. I scouted it out earlier and it seemed pleasing.

I am as new to this world as you are, and I think that we have much to learn from each other. Given my particular state of being, my hours for seeing you are varied. If you wish to visit for a consultation during the day, please let me know in advance, else you are likely to have a bat for an Advisor instead.

Please indicate your educational interest and one unique fact about yourself. I will start:

I have an interest in history, which is often so illogical, fantastic, and rude that it seems more like fiction. Also, I have jousted with the Noted King of Ghouls and survived, and the people in the Above World named their homestead after me - Sylvanus, in Greece. I also enjoy playing "Draw Something".
