Now let's see. We've Juno and the Paycock, but if they're at all concerned about the authenticity of accents, I rather think I'm up the creek.

I think I might see what this Defacing Michael Jackson is all about, or perhaps I ought to look into something I already know -- King Lear has never steered me wrong..

... Or then, there is Marie Antoinette but that seems both a bit awkward and hardly acting, I should think.

Does anyone have any suggestions? For once, I think I could do with some advice.

Although I doubt we could afford it, I figured I'd ask, in light of our hostess' announcement. Are you happy here, Lady?

Additionally, look here now, poor little lamb. We ought to throw her a ladder. Lord knows it took me months to find a suitable tailor. And I'm still hard out for a cobbler.

You know, if you're looking for tailors, there's a demmed decent one uptown. I can get you his card.

I would argue that this is a far sight better than 10 years hard labour.

An American I think I can get behind, who would have thought.

Why do you think it is we've been brought here to witness all this madness? Do the powers that be not realise we've already stuffed ourselves on terror and senselessness. I'm angry, I'm damn angry - and I almost threw something at Armand the other day. He's still as insufferable as ever, of course, and considering all that's happening here, I half suspect he'll be in charge by next Tuesday.

As of Thursday, my beautiful, talented wife and I will have been married for an entire month. And we still haven't I know most people celebrate their anniversaries in years, but most people also imagine their relationship will last that long.

So! With that in mind, we're having a party on Saturday, as we're equally as shocked as you are. You're all invited. Bring your room keys, there'll be a dish.

Having been provoked by today's observation of 'Flag Day' to spend rather too much time perusing the historical development of the French tricolor, I have to say that among the many (some of them rather specious) explanations for the final product, this one is, by far, my favorite:

And I've found this website endlessly entertaining - and educational, of course. For a more multinational celebration. Everyone ought to know his flags.

I've need to say, managing one's finances was certainly much simpler in the 18th century, and there I had significantly more to handle on both England and the Continent with only a network of courriers, but between the inexplicable forms required for taxation and the unpersonable agents.

But t'would seem working is as complicated. What's the general concensus on unions? I'm afraid I'm a bit out of timeframe for them unfamiliar with the concept and while they seem harmless enough--even beneficial say, seems the practical opinion on them's a bit more divided.

Would anyone be interested in accompanying me to the Central Park Zoo? I admit the idea of a zoo is foreign to me, but one that I think will be quite enjoyable. I have not heard of many of the animals I've read are exhibited there, nor the countries they come from. It might give me a chance to learn more about how the world has grown since I was originally on it.

Well demoiselles and gents, as useful as this internet may be, it shall never replace a good old go and see. I've managed to find a most hospitable pub in the harbour--and quite literally twould be said at that.

The Honorable William Wall--she's a boat you see, a floating clubhouse for the yacht club. I thought, with as noisome as most of the pubs round here can be, it'd be most spiffing to take a bit of a cruise whilst playin a round or two of hasard. So, Mulan, Maximoff, Thursday next 5:30 and see where the evening takes us?

I'm booking some space, though it's promised first to club members. Should anyone other be interested?

How does one go about rooming reassignments in this place? I got married on Monday and think it might be appropriate if I were to live with my wife.

TW: death and pregnancy issues

The celebration of motherhood is nothing new, certainly, although the emphases seem to have changed. In my day, when virtue in its civic form was having a great vogue, the importance of mothers as molders and shapers of young citizens was paramount. No republic can hope to survive unless the inheritance of duty to its founding principles can be assured, and mothers were entrusted with that all-important transmission.

My wife died, like so many women did and I have no doubt still do, in childbirth. My daughter was therefore raised largely by servants and one or two neighbors and as a result was saddled with their provincial ideals I have, of course, always wondered how she might have been different had she been able to enjoy her mother's influence. It's speculation that is by its nature ineffective, and more than a little melancholy, but perhaps important in that we always should consider how we take care to train up the next generation.

While I happily pay 8.875% sales tax in New York City, which I know includes state and city taxes as well as a Metropolitan Commuter Transportation District surcharge -- I've been distressed about not having in income because it means not paying income tax and not financially supporting this city or her establishments. I have, with my abundance of free time, been spending a great deal of it at The Door as a volunteer and I've learned far more about this city, I think, than I ever could by staying here, in this tower.

As outsiders, I imagine it can be easy to stick and swell within our ranks, but I believe it is important to become a part of this world, as we are still all the same no matter our specific gifts, advantages or backgrounds. We are responsible for the citizens of New York as they are now responsible for us and I wish to do everything that I can to do what's needed of me, and perhaps of all of us.

However, I'm still at a loss as to what to do for work. I would like, very much, to use the time I'm paid for in much the same way that I volunteer, only to feel as though I'm consistent in doing everything that I can.

I've noticed that many people in this city seem resistant to engaging in a conservation with people they don't know. That's not true of everyone, of course, but I've noticed that talk seems to be kept brief. I miss the exchange of debate. I also miss talking to someone without them constantly looking at a device in their hands. I respect the practice as a custom here, but it's hard not to perceive it as rude.

Two tickets, unfortunately upper mezzanine was the best I could manage.

Go to will call, you're going on behalf of Boris Montfeuille from Vacheron Constantin. Seems they give tickets to sponsors who are notorious for not giving a fig about the theatre.

Lord, it does seem this ague is spreading rather foul through the tower.

Fortunate there's so much readily available at the shops to help. But I'll be mulling some wine I think, should anyone be feeling under the weather and wish to partake.

Always did right the thing back home. And if it didn't, easy answer's more wine!
