The Doorway: a panfandom game

I'd been doubtful about a business whose sole trade was the indoors equivalent of a training yard, but gyms appear to be fairly profitable. And I have a selfish reason to like the one down the block, because they run a self-defence class and they're letting me teach there.

Treadmills still mystify me. If I'm going to run, I want to get somewhere. But the rest of the equipment is useful.

You know with how often there are protesters I have to wonder if there's any actual money in it.

Shouting at one another all day certainly raises tensions. Then it only takes a small act, something forgettable on your average day, to send tempers flaring. Not my presence, if you're wondering. I asked the anti-Avenger protestors if they would truly be better than us if they were one of two parties to blame for mob violence. And I asked the pro-Avenger protestors to act as they know we would. They went back to their respective corners for now. But it isn't getting better unless something more happens.

Freedom of speech is wonderful, and I support it. But even more, I value making progress on the issues, not simply everyone talking at each other. I've promised to come back and speak with people on each side later.

Considering how tired I get just hearing and watching the protesters on television and in the streets, it must be downright exhausting to have to actually deal with them.

Never been one for politics, and all these tensions cements that for me.

You know the tesseract does bring a fair amount of beasties through. I have to wonder why we don't get more of the cute ones like the ones in the pool.

Maybe a few more nugs? Not at all because I want a nug. A mabari is enough for me.

But what would anyone else want to see come through?

Well, as far as things I thought might happen when I woke up this morning, this doesn't even make the top 10.

I spent a fair amount of time in this city after the war. And quite a lot of it has changed, such being the forward motion of progress.

But there's a indestructible spirit that never disappears. While tempers might be flared, wounds haven't healed, that spirit's still there.

It's a calming thing to think about, really.

Friday evening I have booked a suite at the Le Parker Meridien as a location to celebrate Caroline's upcoming nuptials. The Le Parker Meridien has a rooftop pool with beverages and food, and I am working on insuring we have music throughout the evening. When we tire of the pool, we can retreat to the suite for further conversation and celebration.

If you will be planning to attend please let me know so that I have some idea of a headcount for drinks and so forth.

Also, don't say anything to Caroline as the location and method of celebration is still a surprise for her.
