The Doorway: a panfandom game

I like San Diego. There's a Mexican restaurant on J street which is particularly memorable. Definitely a reason to return to this city. There is absolutely no way I can describe the corn soup in a way that would do it proper justice.

That said, I'm still not quite sure why I agreed to attend SDCC. Divine corn soup or no, there is absolutely no excuse. I hate the heat, I hate the crowds, I hate the 'Free Hugs' signs. And while I understand that all the excitement can be confusing, there is still absolutely no way I resemble this man -- for as far as I know there are no Reptoids in my linage, and thus I'm not quite sure how anyone could make that mistake.

A Sherlock Holmes panel is a Sherlock Holmes panel. If you're only interested in what Steve Moffat's ridiculous ego-congratulatory series that's probably the most obvious self-insert since Tim Burton first cast Johnny Depp -- please deliver thyself to the first available Weeping Angel and stay away from my legacy.

I do, however, approve of Watson's mustache. Anything that hides the majority of his face, after all, should be deemed an improvement.

The rain last night was glorious, cold and refreshing -- and after years on a desert planet I absolutely believe that the novelty of water falling from the sky will never again be taken for granted by me.

In other news: I have discovered Pinkberry. It's a pity they don't use Bantha milk.

I have a question for you both, regarding what level of input we should have on the events of this place. I know there are refugees who are concerned about a missing person, there are protests and there is unrest in regards to it -- are we meant to sit on our hands until we're asked? Or should we look into these matters ourselves?

figuring out a way to talk that isn't carrying around a notebook or through this is more complicated then i figured. but still, i like the city. it's big and loud, but that's welcome. i've gotten lost a lot, but i've found new things almost every day.

I suppose the one bright side of being human, and not twi'lek here, is that no one has recognized me. They'll have me on a panel later this week, and I'm rather suspecting I'll get some questions about that, or it will surprise me if I don't. But it does mean that I get to wander around mostly unquestioned or without being mobbed.

There's a lot of enthusiasm - and I still am getting used to seeing stormtroopers without flinching - but I do not yet regret having agreed to do this comic con thing.

So, those of us not from this particular...place, what exactly do all of you do all day? I'm bored as hell.

I was given an invitation to attend a gathering, this convention. I was told that I would be a guest of honor, that I would be speaking to 'fans'. Then I was rudely awoken before dawn, stuck inside a horrible, loud beast that I'm fairly certain is some breed of dragon, and deposited in some place called San Diego.

Fasta vass, I have nearly set half a dozen people aflame today. I do not know if these people are truly abominations or in costume as my guide has tried to explain.

This is not what I was expecting when I was invited to a gathering.

I must it's gratifying after all this time to be recognized for my truest area of expertise.
