I just want to take this moment to apologize if I've been a little short or a (what's a good word for it?) raging bitchmonster lately. There's no real excuse, but It's out of my system.

However, we landed StarPharma out of Australia yesterday for 3.4 million over rhe next six months to support our nanosensors work. So we're doing something right. Let’s all go to lunch and celebrate. My treat.

Lunch was interesting today. I was recognized. Not the actress who plays me, but me, Beverly Crusher. Some very nice young ladies approached me as I was leaving the shopping center where I had bought my salad, and were really very nice. I understand that there are some fans who aren't, so I clearly got the better bargain. But the best part, by far, was one of them -- her name was Samantha -- told me that I had been such an influence on her when she was a child that she had gone into medicine because of me. She's a nurse, and she's planning on returning to medical school this fall, to become a pediatrician.

That I can have such influence over young women is humbling and wonderful.
