Not sure who told these guys that blindfolding and disorienting people who've been kidnapped was a good way to make someone happy, but I think we all need to have a sit down and talk about this. Maybe come up with a friendlier way of examinations. Maybe offer a lollipop after the whole ordeal. Anyway. I'm Lana and I've got a massive headache. I've never been to New York before. I have been reading about the weapons of this world. Not the guns. I have no great liking for them. They are useful, I grant you, but they lack grace and elegance. But the swords of this world are as magnificent as the ones in my world and I think the variety may be even greater here. I believe that when I have the time and the money, I shall travel to England to visit the museums of the Royal Armouries and perhaps visit similar places in Europe. It is good to have something to work towards.

Shortly after I arrived, I bought a journal to record those thoughts that won't easily fit into this computer. I then promptly forgot about it, as you do with such things. Then last night I thought maybe I'd jot down a few things -- and it was gone. It was very clearly not in the place I'd made for it on the bookshelf. Well, there was nothing written in it, so no harm done. I hope that whoever has it now will make good use of it, and if they do something like draw or write the best damn novel in the world in it, that they have the courage to share it with me.

If I don't Chuck and I never talked before we were deployed. We never talked much in general, but I never could find the words to say what I wanted to say while we were getting ready. I'd want to give him advice, talk to him about what to expect, tell him I was proud as hell of him, tell him I loved him. But he'd be in my head a few minutes later, so I never said a thing.
