No matter what is thrown at us, we can handle it. No amount of training could have prevented that, and no one is responsible for what they did while they were under that stuff. When some of us are out, the rest of the team has our back. No matter what.

I confess it is an oddity to find myself once again in another realm, but I have grown fond of Midgard in all of her forms. And I have found my way to a tavern called Sam's, where I have encountered a most agreeable barkeep with the finest selection of ale I have seen across twelve planets. I believe I will enjoy my time here a great deal.

Probably of more interest to the rest of you, I'm also hiring an assistant. My practice (all conducted under the supervision of a member in good standing of the New York State Bar Association until the swearing in, of course) is almost entirely criminal defense, but we're open to some plaintiff-side products liability and personal injury if the right case comes along. Mandatory qualifications include:

• Discretion. Client matters are one hundred percent confidential, no exceptions, non-negotiable, period.
  
  
• A backbone. If a cop tells you to jump and you say "how high," you might be better off as a doorman.
  
  
• Open-mindedness. Clients aren't angels - if your nose tips up when you meet someone with a DUI conviction, go teach kindergarten.
  
  
• A sense of humor. It's not a big office. We're going to need to not want to strangle each other all of the time.

I meant to tell you that I was going out of the country yesterday, but this is a little more memorable.

To those who have made their arrival in New York City upon this night, I offer my glad tidings and salutations.
