It's interesting how they say they're celebrating labor today, but it's only the people with desk and government jobs who seem to have it off.

It's not 'interesting', but depressing. Society's favouritism of the wealthy shows itself even here, as though they are more entitled to leisure and time with their families.

It happens everywhere.

The elite use the workers for their benefit and at their costs. Keep em dumb, keep em down, keep em too low to raise any threat. It's disappointing that people aren't more organized here.

It was worse, I think, when nobility and birth meant a claim to more than was necessary. But capitalism seems to have replaced royalty -- wealth seems as inherited as a title and we seem to be a very long way from what was once thought of as the 'American Dream'.

I was going to say, just cause we don't have kings doesn't mean where you're born doesn't mean a hell of a lot. It's only ever those born in cities or to the elite who manage to become the ruling class themselves.

It's true, there are no leaps and bounds between poverty and prosperity and the effort of a man does not reflect in his rewards. It should not be like that.

Oooooooo Imma need some popcorn for all the existential angst this is going to bring.

But what else would you expect from the overt corporate overtones of this world?

I guess it'd be naive to think something would eventually break the cycle and I'd picked it up since being here.

But it's pretty frakked up celebrating that other people are still working.

Needs more shooting people with acid and fire and explosives to be homey.

I'm alright. And no, I was at SHIELD working on a jet when this all went down.

You were up at that thing, right?

Oh, good. I'm glad to hear that you weren't hurt. I think I missed that part. Are you thinking of becoming an agent or just doing what you were back home for SHIELD?

Yeah. I left Friday afternoon amd just got back about an hour ago.

No, I'm not a soldier, just a mechanic.

Did you have a good time at least?

Even without seeing your work - not that I would understand half of what was going on - I know that you're an incredibly good mechanic.

I did! I rode in a boat with a motor, rode on a jet-ski (talk about exhilaration!), and lazed about in my swimsuit most of the time. I could have ridden a house, but none of them that were there were a good choice for a new rider. A few people did ask where you were.

I suppose they're celebrating that they have been excluded from the labor.

Yeah. Cally brought it back at one point, and I read some.

Hate to say it, but he wasn't wrong on some parts.

Why would you hate to

He moved across classes, so I think that gave him a perspective from the different sides and what it takes to assimilate.

Although I confess that I didn't read it as thoroughly as I could have.

It seems to me that the politicization of unions and the influence of lobbyist organizations have done their work in effectively driving the usefulness if organized Labor from the sociopolitical landscape.

When everyone is afraid of being labeled Pink, who will stand?

It would seem to me politicians paying attention to them would be a positive thing. Or do you mean the unions are listening a bit too much to the leaders?

I mean they're listening too much to their leaders - though this is an over-generalization, so I suppose I shall amend myself to say some - and not enough to the working women and men they represent.
