Between the time lag, the leg, and trying to get my head around the physics of this whole thing, I think I've been in bed for about eighteen hours. I guess I wasn't in much shape to start house-building, as much as I was looking forward to it.

Or that's my excuse for missing reveille, anyway.

Not that it's the worst excuse: it's my third Earth in not very long - first one with decent food, though. First one with coffee. I heard some familiar names thrown around, so one of you will probably have to catch me up (again). If you want to come do it over eggs, I'm about to eat enough to feed a small family. It's been a really long time.

Today, I have officially been here for one full year without getting pulled back and forth like a bunch of others Gale Ugh ...and the only person I knew was Finnick who kept tying everything I had into knots. I guess the Tesseract really did decide that my life here was probably worth more than it is back in our world. I had a huge empty house all to myself and rebellion was on its way to winding down, so really, what was there to do back there anyway? And, here, I have a job here that I hate and love. Because who wouldn't have a hate/love relationship with a work place that brings you close to sick people?

Anyway, potentially long and sappy rambly entry made short: I'm staying. No protestors are going to scare me out.

Also, its the 20th. Why am I still hearing fireworks? Geez, people, at least use the ones that sound like they're actual fireworks and not just a single boom?

Oh. Quentin is gone. That... actually makes me kind of sad.

Is there some sort of inter-dimensional liaison for when folks get their hackles up about us newcomers--sort of like when law enforcement officers have to cross jurisdictional lines and work with other departments? Or am I totally over-thinking things here?

I signed Bernard up for doggy obedience class. Don't get me wrong, he's like totes a good dog and everything, but he's like twice my size because hello I'm tiny. And anyway at the park he saw a bunny rabbit or tiny and fluffy and cute and shot off after it. I tried to hang onto him, but he kind of dragged me for a mo and I had to let go or like he was totes going go pull my arm off.

The part I'm way excite about is that if he passes his test at the end of the class I can tooootally take him to like old people's homes and stuff and register him to become a therapy dog. He'd be really good at that because all he likes to do is like to lick people and make them laugh. And I think it would kind of be like therapy for me too, you know?

Why does it have to be so hot? I can almost feel myself melting.

I need a bathtub full of ice. I think that's the only thing that will help.

There have been several drug thefts over the past few days and we're being sent in to investigate the disappearance.

Bras: Torture device or useless piece of fabric and metal?

Seriously, they're hard enough to take off when they're on someone else but how the hell are you suppposed to do up clasps in the back on yourself. Why do women need bras anyway? I mean, yes, it makes breasts look perky and pretty and va va voom, but seriously, men, we need to learn to appreciate them braless. Because bras - more trouble than they're worth. I think I'm beginning to understand why women used to have maids to help them get dressed.

God I miss being a boy. So much easier.

There are so many new books to read, and yet I find myself rereading books that are much older than I am. I suppose I am at a loss for where to start with these modern works, and have sought comfort in the familiar.

It is disappointing to me that many of those classical works that were fragmented in my time remain so. I suppose this Library of Alexandria you call the internet cannot bring back what is already lost. But I had hoped that one day, someone might find the lost text of Ovid's Medea in the cellar of a monastery in the Hyblaean Mountains, or the completed works of Sappho scratched on the inside of some ancient greek amphora, buried in the ruins of some long forgotten settlement. Alas, I must settle for fragments.

Never been so relieved to get caught in a torrential downpour while out in the city... despite the fact that I'm just about completely soaked, including my socks. But I don't think rain for 15 minutes was enough to make up for the week-long heat wave.

So while I'm still going to be freelancing here or there, I've at least landed a permanent job with the New York magazine as a travel writer. More guarantee of money! More traveling, even. If I'm gone for long periods of time, you know why.

I was talking at a comedy club and one of the gentlemen offered me a job at a coffee shop. He didn't seem to believe me when I said I was the Muse of Comedy. He wouldn't have been nearly as funny if I hadn't exerted a little influence but he was cute. Should I take it?

Jamie got me a job at the dry cleaning place. So far I'm just running register but it's painfully obvious I've never had a real job in my life.
