While a group of people went to play with children and toddlers this weekend, I stayed in the basement and filled out the necessary paperwork to allow me to comfort sick infants. Hopefully next Saturday I'll be able to hold a little girl again. The woman processing my paperwork was a fan of Harry's books, but told me she'd been Sorted at Pottermore into Slytherin and had a soft spot for them. We had a nice conversation about the portrayal of Slytherins in the books, and I was able to ask her a fair deal many questions that I'd been wanting answered. The story of how Potter and Weasley sneaked into Slytherin as Crabbe and Goyle and Hermione was turned into a cat was amusing. Though at the very end, she did throw me by surprise when she told me that the author of these books never saw fit to discuss me in detail until four books after introducing me. So much so that many reading the books thought I could have been a lily white girl with bleach blonde hair, named Mary Sue.

I've been here just over two months now. Two months! How strange to think I have spent my time here doing little more than studying, running around and generally not taking things seriously. I did not think I would stay this long, I suppose.

With the weather the way it is, I thought I'd offer out a little bonus to the residents of Potts Tower; I've re-created the dry skin exfoliate we use in our treatments, and have more than enough to offer out a little help. It's made to be used within a few days - so the sooner the better - but it smells divine and will leave your skin protected and moisturized.

I have a table here at the tower (and a license, if you're worried), and would be happy to offer out treatments all this week to anyone that would be interested. Mostly, I could just use the distraction and company

Katie and I have visiting all of these rescues trying to find the perfect dog for us, but we can't seem to agree on one together. If she thinks one is cute then I don't want it because it's not pathetic enough. Actually, that sounds horrible, but I want to give a home to a dog that really needs it. If anyone has any recommendations for pounds or rescues let me know! Or even if you just know of a dog that needs a good home.

Julie and I have been working to put together our first LGBT plus meeting and got the rec room on the 13th floor reserved for Friday night at 6pm. It's just a little get together so we can all start getting to know each other. There will be light refreshments and tons of socializing so please stop by if you are interested! It's an open invitation to anyone who is LGBT friendly so if you know of anyone else who might like to come, let either of us know and we'll be sure there is enough room for them.

We made it on Friday night so we can all go out together on the town afterwards if we want. We can split off into groups or go all together. We'll see how it goes!

I had no idea this happened. Had this happened sooner, or happened where I'm from my life might have been really fucking different. I'm just not sure "better" is the word I'd choose.

I'm really not sure if I've ever been this tired. And that's saying something. Worked thirty-six hours straight through the blizzard. Then came home, slept two or three hours, and worked another sixteen.

But it feels great. I mean, we helped a lot of people, and it felt good to actually be making a difference. That's why I went into the medical field in the first place; to help people.

Hope everyone in the tower stayed safe during the blizzard.

I'm off today. Usually, I'm against being "off", because it means that I'm not making money and/or networking, but after the storm and my training and my ER duties downtime... I've got to say, it's nice being off and being lazy. Today, I've:

So since I have nothing better to do with my time at the moment and I'm not learning only the basics because of having to settle into another version of my own life, I've been making a list of universe differences I've spotted while browsing on the internet or newspapers (filled out some of the crossword for you too, Linc) and TV.

1) Tom Cruise. Who's idea was it to let him become a movie star here? Keep him in soap operas.

I'm glad I was able to help rescue people in the blizzard. It was a great experience for me to apply my talents to something useful. if shield doesn't work out, I know what I can do!. So glad my home isn't a stranger to snow - so this didn't phase me too much. It's nice to know I can do some hard work then go back to paperwork, training and the like without killing myself. Also competed in the Games - that was fun even if I feel I wasn't showing as well as I could have. But it was a chance I couldn't resist.

Apparently looking up information about myself on this internet thing isn't the best idea. Not only do I make poor eye wear choices in the future, but I also die in what becomes another war against You-Know-Who. But, hey, at least I make it to the '90s, because my brother, sister-in-law, niece, nephews, and parents didn't. I mean, honestly. Did this writer just decide to throw everything at our family because, why the hell not?

On the plus side, at least I become Head of the DMLE.

I try to keep myself healthy to a ridiculous degree. I will get the odd cold -- usually via sick workaholics at the office that would rather infect everyone than take a day off and away from work -- but otherwise I pride myself in hardly ever getting really and truly ill. So it would figure that I would catch the flu only after being displaced through time and space.

Is this sort of weather normal for the surface? All this snow? I tried going outside but it was just far too cold and the snow was wet and not nearly as nice as it looked from the window of my apartment. We don't get this sort of weather at home. Well, we don't get any kind of weather back home because home is a cave system underground. I never knew how nice that was. The last time I dealt with weather was when we got near the dragon's cave but that wasn't real weather, that was magic weather so I'm not sure it counts.

You know, I guess this sort of thing is why there are so many humans and why humans are so capable. Everything changes for you all the time so you have to get better and better in order to survive. The most we have to worry about are hobgoblins and carrion-worms and lizard-fish and they're always the same so you always know how to deal with them. Which is mostly to run away from them very fast. The goblins are doomed if the humans ever seriously came after us. That's really depressing.
