The Doorway: a panfandom game

I've had a thought!

Since there are so many of us here now, and we all have so many different skills and backgrounds, I thought that maybe on an unofficial, more casual level than classes, we could help one another out? Think of it as a sort of exchange of skills. For example, I can do magic, brew potions, do little charms and things, and since my life has been deemed fictional, I don't really hold much respect for the Statute of Secrecy anymore. I wouldn't mind doing some magic in exchange for learning or seeing something that someone else can do, though naturally within reason. I'm not about to go make a love potion or anything.

Besides, it could be a fun way to get to know one another better? I've been here a few months now, so if you're new or we haven't spoken yet, I'm Lily Evans, currently missing Hogwarts almost as much as I miss my motorbike. Bet you didn't read that in the books. Does anyone here have a bike? Or a car? I WILL DO MAGIC FOR ENGINES.

I'm a little late actually introducing myself, but with all the new people around, I think an earlier introduction would have gotten missed by a lot of people. I'm Lee Adama, formerly of Caprica and the Colonial Fleet. I've been a pilot (my callsign was Apollo, which is frakking hilarious because there was a god named Apollo here), commander of a battlestar, politician, acting president, caveman... and I think being a caveman was the most rewarding. I'm up on the fourteenth floor, and although I've been here since the middle of October, I'm still getting used to living in a city again. After a couple of years on a battlestar and some time on my own on an Earth about 150,000 years ago, this whole city thing is frakked up. Here, I'm back to being a pilot because I'm good at it and it'll pay. It's been a damn long time since I got paid for that.

The main reason I'm writing this is because I know there are a bunch of us who were used to space travel and with all the new people around, there's bound to be some more of you out there. It helped me to be around people who understood that aspect of my life. Let me know if you're one too. We're a friendly bunch, for the most part. Don't let the sour face in the corner (Kara) or Jayne's smell drive you off.

I got myself a bit of temporary work. They haven't given me any promises beyond the second week of January but that'll do me for now. I'd say I was a guard but apparently my official title is 'bouncer'. Interesting title. They've been saying they want me to be a little more visible than the other bouncers. Something about how I look? One of the barmen also seemed to know my name, which was interesting. He kept looking at the mark on my hand. I figure I'll get about three days before he's asking questions.

Anyway, it's called the Gin Palace and it's over in this place called Alphabet City. As long as you don't make me bounce you, you're welcome to drop my name. If I'm working, I'll get you in.

First things first, CLOUD, they said you were here. Are you doing okay?

Second things second, spent awhile trying to decide whether or not I'm suffering some sort of post-battle hallucination, but if nothing else, the things people have been saying on this network thing make me think that it would have to be something especially crazy to get this kind of scale. Mako can do some crazy stuff, but suddenly hallucinating that everyone is hallucinating is probably pushing it on the craziness scale.

If nothing else, it's nice to have Shinra off my back. Hopefully these SHIELD people knew what they were talking about when they said Shinra isn't an issue here. Aaaand guess I'd figure it out pretty soon if not.

So I'm settling in, this place is certainly interesting. I can see a lot of similarities to my own Earth/time period but at the same time the differences are quite obvious too

I noticed there was some gods here which is fascinating - I studied, among other things, human mythology at college. This whole experience has opened up so many opportunities to me that I don't know where to begin.

Oh my god did you all see, the Supreme Court is going to review gay marriage cases in March? I can't believe it. This is the best news ever.

Now that things have settled down a little bit on the work front and it's friday night so I have some free time I thought it might be time for me to introduce myself to everyone. Hello! Not reported in the paper was the following information: no sign of a struggle, no skin under the victim's nails or marks on the body. As of yet, the coroner can't even begin to guess what the cause of death might be. The only think peculiar about the whole ordeal -- and what really has the police stumped (not that they aren't always) -- is the spray paint across the dead man's chest.

A single word in red: WAHC.

Or, not a word, perhaps an acronym for something. It was obviously placed there by the killer but...I don't know what it means. I am still working out what it could mean.

I'm agent Astrid Farnsworth. Apparently I was a character on a television show called Fringe. I'd have thought they would have come up with a much better title than that. Anyway, it certainly doesn't feel like I'm fictional. I've lived, breathed, cried, helped to take care of Walter, went to school, got degrees, landed a job with the F.B.I., and now I'm here.

I'm great with computers and a master at Cryptology. If you need any assistance in these areas, let me know and I'll see what I can do.
