We have both seen some weird things here and our universe, but this is by far the weirdest thing to date.

Marathoning something this weekend. Your choice if you come over and join. I feel I've run out of interesting shows to watch. Or we could run marathon, if you're able and interested. That has begun again, and I am doing very well with my training. And I'm cooking more for it too. Russian food, best for marathon training.

I used to ride a lot when I was younger - which is to be expected, growing up on a ranch. Being here I've missed it, but setting up Serenity Ranch has helped a bit with that. Anyways, I decided to ride in a three day eventing competition this past weekend. The cross country course was awesome - easily my favorite part. The jumping course wasn't bad, and dressage, well, riding to music in white breeches, tails and a top hat isn't my usual thing. I came in 12 in the cross country course which I was happy with. Tempted to try an endurance riding competition next. Or even barrel racing. There's just something about galloping on a horse that - well - it's a feeling that's almost like flying.

For someone who has timetraveled before this is an unusual situation that I find myself in. It isn't something I appreciate either as I had duties I must attend too back home - severely important ones as that. Still I have been told that I should introduce myself - I'm Captain Jonathan Archer.

I had a wonderful time. We really should do this more often, now that there are a few more of us here.

In case anyone was wondering, yes Pavel and I ran in the snow and the cold this morning in our underwear. Along with about 700 some odd other people. It was for a good cause and I'm glad I did but damn.....I'm not planning on coming out from under my blankets until Monday morning.

Yesterday was a lot of fun. We should go to more cultural events.

However, more importantly, Valentine's Day is coming up. What are we going to do? I know I'll be watching you and Pavel run for charity on the 15th.

With watching mice and running about 22 miles each day this last week or so, I never mentioned and I really should have, but Pike and I aren't... whatever it was we were doing. Anymore. Maybe I should stop liking people who think they are all messed up. What does that say about me?

There is run coming up to raise money for Children's Tumor Foundation. Cupid's Undie Run. I will be signing up. If anyone would like to be on team or sponsor me, let me know. It is not long race, like marathon. Or just come and cheer in two weeks.

So the Super Bowl is on Sunday which is also Groundhog Day. I wonder if there's a way to get the groundhog to predict the winner instead of whether or not we'll have six more weeks of winter?

I wanted to inform everyone, especially students with the ESD, that I am teaching a new class: American Sign Language. Feel free to sign up!

I happened to look at the TV this morning while I was getting dressed for work and noticed that they were announcing the Academy Award nominations. This was one of the films that was nominated. I wish I'd had the chance to see it, it looks good.

I think the ESD winter break has spoiled me. I missed having work to do and the teaching, but I quite enjoyed not having any work at the same time.

But I am glad that classes are back in session so I am able to share my knowledge of languages with others.

How did it become 2014 so quickly?

I've been spending a lot of time with my telescope since it arrived here and it brings back a lot of memories. I used to set it up in my parents' back yard, look up at the sky and wonder what it would be like to live up there. I finally got that chance and it was just as amazing as I had hoped it would be.

I miss it but maybe I'll be able to get back there one day. For now I'm happy with my job at Stark. I'm particularly enjoying the extended holiday time off. You can't beat that.

If anyone needs me tonight, I'm going to be out in the snow in Central Park looking at the sky. I don't care how cold it is. The Tesseract Santa sent me the telescope I got when I was a kid.

As a follow-up to my musings earlier in the month I have been in touch with some organizations that accept donations and assistance and I am gathering some things to take over and would happily take anything that anyone else would like to bring over.

The particular organization called Room to Grow works with mothers of young children who live in impoverished situations. They have a full list of needed items at their webiste, but they tell me some possibilities would be new or used (in good condition of course) clothing up to size 5T, books, blankets, towels, bibs, strollers, playmats, feeding supplies, and diaper bags. They will also accept new bottles, teethers, shampoo, baby lotion and baby care items.

I will be leaving for France this weekend, but if anyone would like to donate some additional items beyond those I have gathered please bring them by my quarters (room 903) before noon on Friday. I plan on dropping items by the office that afternoon.

In addition I will be signing up to assist with the New York Food Bank throughout the month of January since I will be out of the city over the Christmas holiday.

It seems this is very little, but hopefully it will help someone else to find home this holiday season.
