So it's Halloween almost! That happy time of year when people come out of the woodwork to wear problematic costumes that we're all supposed to not notice are totally and completely unacceptable. Hey, newsflash-a person's culture isn't a costume. "Sexy Cantina Girl" or "Sexy Geisha", not cool. Goes double for "Illegal Alien" (you're not clever) or don't even get me started on the "Suicide Bomber" costume I saw ON A CHILD.

Seriously, there are so many things you can wear that are CLEVER, being racist, sexist or homophobic is not only unnecessary, it's demeaning and stupid. So don't do it.

That said, I was pretty pleased with my and Sam's costumes, even if only for the party. Too much make up for one Sam.

Tell me the worst costumes you guys have seen. Let's make a list of good and bad costume ideas for those floundering so they don't make a problematic choice.

Jack... did you or your actor sleep with the Queen? Because I'm not sure how else to explain the fact that your actor was appointed a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire at the Queen's Birthday Honours.

Having met the man - John Barrowman - at Comic-Con this past year, he's a great guy and cheers to him, but I think if he and Jack end up in the same place again, well... It's a bit overwhelming, shall we say.

New York is AMAZING! The shops! The FOOD, I don't think I've ever SEEN food like this — I'm definitely going to have to start a diet after what I've eaten today, cut out carbs or only eat grapefruit, something like that. I had my photo taken with a man wearing nothing but pants and a cowboy hat who sang me a song, and I slapped a man on the subway who called me "girlie."

I can't believe I've been here before and don't remember a thing.

Been away a right long time and my whole apartment smells a bit on the stale side I think. I can't quite decide if I'm glad to be back, or if I wish I were still in the mountains. In truth, I ain't really lovin' the sounds of the city, but there's folks here I'm glad to see again so there's a part of me that's glad to be back. If anyone wants to see some photos, I took a few on my travels and I'm more than happy to show'em off, although I ain't gonna clutter up the network with any more of'em.

I ain't been around much cause a lot of the time I ain't had access to the network and the times what I have, I ain't been checkin' in. I visited Colorado a while back when young Will was here, we went together and saw things and it was odd and not like I'm used to in my own time. It was like my home all dressed up like somethin' I didn't recognize. But the further I rode the train west, the more I found these pieces of home even though it ain't a thing like home. But solitude, no people, just the woods and whatever lives in it.

I've missed that.

I took some photos, of course, cause I promised Donna I would and I'm sittin' here drinkin' a cup of truly terrible coffee that may well be the best I've ever drank, and waitin' for these to load up. They're takin' their sweet time.

I think if I were to find home in this time, Alaska, or maybe parts of British Columbia, may be the best I can come to it.

Guess I ain't the only one been havin' these strange dreams.

I woke up morning before yesterday with a whole stack of fish sticks next to my bedside table. I ain't certain how they got there, but it seems I ain't also the only one wakin' up with strange stuff next to my bed. Sort of smelled and I can't say it was an appetizin' smell, but I could stand with not havin' that happen again any time soon.

This world never does seem to disappoint when it comes to really odd stuff.

On the other hand, I've set a date to head out to Alaska like I talked about before. I've got one more table I'm finishin' up, and then I'm headed out -- I'm thinkin' that'll be first of next week.

Oh, I should not have watched that. I should not have watched even an episode of that.

I am completely traumatized, and now I need massive amounts of distraction, or my day is only going to get worse.

Who's willing to distract a very shaky woman who just got a face full of flashbacks labeled as quality entertainment?

I'm not one to celebrate America's independence, mainly because I'm English, but I don't know. I feel like since I'd be pigging out on hotdogs and things while the weather is this beautiful means I need to make an exception.

Well, after talking to Donna a bit about travelin' I decided that I was going to just head out to Alaska a bit as soon as I've got my current orders done. I think I'm gonna take the train to Seattle and then take some ferries up to Alaska itself. Then I may just stay out there for a bit -- haven't decided for certain how long, but I'll probably be leavin' around mid to late-July or so. Still got a couple of tables to finish.

It's loud, smelly, and ugly. If I have to be stuck here, I want to be in Asgard. At least it made sense.

Whoever made up these glass journey books must've lost their nerve. If you aren't willing to bleed a little to talk across the distance, you must be really boring to talk to in person. This is a test, and I don't see the point.

I don't know what I was expecting -- more laundry tossed around, broken tellies -- but what I got with the inspectors wasn't it. I gave them all tea and biscuits to-go. Sorry, Doctor. You're going to have to run out and get more chocolate digestives.

How in the world do you write up a resume when it wasn't your experiences but someone else's ideas here?

DOCTOR WHO LADIES:

I don't know all of you nearly as well as I'd like to. I say that should change. What do you lot say to weekly lunches or just tea? Whenever you can make it. I know you've all got important jobs and lives going on.

Did any of you have trouble getting back to a regular life after... everything?

Way I figure it, folks who've got a lot of time to spend yellin' at other folks need more work to do. Apparently most of them don't care for the rain though.

I've been gatherin' up supplies for the ranch. I was thinkin' I might just spend most of the next few weeks out at the ranch anyway. I've got three or four furniture orders to fill and it's easier for me to just stay in one place while I'm in that groove anyway, but the commotion round the tower has pretty much cemented that intention. You thinkin' of anything I might need to take back out with me when we go?

And - I've been thinkin', it's hard enough to get everything transported. I may work on gettin' a drivers license - if I can - and gettin' us a truck to haul things back and forth more easily. Probably should have done that months ago.
