The Doorway: a panfandom game

Happy almost New Year! I watched celebrations from Japan earlier today and it made me feel homesick. There are pictures of the balloon release near Tokyo Tower and I wished I was there. I'd really like to go sometime, so I can celebrate all the festivals that I miss so much. One day. Maybe this time next year, I'll celebrate the new year in Japan!

Anyone else see the box of elves in the lobby? I took an elf home with me. I think he'll enjoy it and be a great addition to the rest of the Christmas decorations I've put up.

Does anyone else not miss the music and the dancing? Talking in rhyme can be stressful, but dancing. I could live in a musical. Or a movie, the way the right music plays at just the right time, people have their personal themes, and there are soundtracks. That sounds about right.

Christmas is in 24 days! I think I'm going to go see the tree lighting tomorrow, but I haven't decided for sure yet. Is it fun to watch it being lit?

Since I've been here, I have had the immense opportunity to learn more and more about this world and its people. The culture here is not entirely different than the many I became familiar with in my own galaxy -- this holiday season is comforting in its similarities to some of the ones I remember from home.

I was accused of playing unfairly for carrying my shield with me to the shops this last weekend. But I do think my holiday gifts are sorted. Mostly. And I bought some things I'm not sure what they do.

18 now, I totally got this!

i had a blast. definitely gonna do it again. maybe i'll go to the party next year too, but it's not like there isn't tons of time.

but if anyone wants some candy i'm happy to share. i could finish it all and that's probably not the greatest plan. anyhow, i do hope everyone else had a good time too!

Hopefully no one was disappointed not to turn into their costume this year. Though that would have been as entertaining this time as last. I'd have trusted Miss Swann with my life. And hopefully none of those costumes I didn't recognize would have caused too much trouble. We did have a dragon last year. With no trouble. And I hope you all had fun, whether you were at Fangtasia or not! What were your favorite moments?

I will miss the pirates theme of the 18th and 19th floors now that it's November. The best month of the year is gone, but tis the season soon enough.

I am on a hunt for a Halloween Costume.

Though it's really weird looking online, and one of the first costumes you see is one of your own. Mine is a lot better, but it's still weird.

I meant to express just how glad I was to have access to BBC, so that I could see what's been going on back home so easily. But I admit I'm a bit disappointed that the muggle world is still fighting the same stupid battles we were eighteen years ago. Inequality, racism, sexism, homelessness. It's almost as if it's gotten worse, really, or maybe it's just easier to highlight these days. At the very least, it's good that renewable energy in the UK is being argued for. Hopefully they won't muck it up.

Sometimes I can't help wondering what the wizarding world is like now, in 2015. Or would be like, I suppose, if it were 'real'. Goodness knows I've been craving chocolate frogs like mad. Maybe a trip down to Florida is in order. I hear they've got their own version of Diagon Alley.

I have given names to my fish: Bubbles and Sunny. Both seem to be settling in well. Luna is glad I didn't bring home a dog, but at the same time she is wondering why I felt the need to get fish. They are cute, how can I resist? And they are less maintenance than Thumper, who is equally cute.

It looks like I'm living on my own for the time being. My roommate was sent back. She was nice, and I enjoyed getting to know her.

It's really weird though, having the place to myself. I never had to share a room back home, but it was nice to have one.

I've suddenly found myself with an abundance of baked goods I can't eat on my lonesome.

I absolutely love October. It has the first and third best days of the year: my birthday and Halloween. And I'll be able to raise a non-virgin glass at Fangtasia's Halloween party this year! September was a busy month, and like a lot of you (but not all, I'm sure), I was distracted from starting my costume planning. That starts now, Hank. You're going to be on planet both those days. For those of you who have been here less than a year and haven't heard the stories, last Halloween, everyone turned into their costumes at Fangtasia's Halloween party. We had an amazing assembly, including an actual life size dragon. And it was quite safe, as Fangtasia is enchanted to prevent anyone from harming each other. So, who would you want to turn into for a few hours? Because that might be worth incorporating into your costume planning. Please just keep it to a size that fits within Fangtasia! I'm sorry, anyone wanting to dress up as Gypsy Danger or Cherno Alpha. You've been forewarned, so unless you're as rich as Tony Stark, that would be a bill you can't pay. But TARDISes, Artoos, Threepios, and gods all welcome. There will be a costume contest!

Continuing with the Halloween theme and excitement, there's a floor decorating contest in the tower, and I firmly believe we can win this one. We're a smaller floor, but we have some remarkable talent. I thought we could discuss themes and ideas here, so we can coordinate and make this something absolutely memorable. What do you love best about Halloween, what kind of decorating interests do you have, and when would you have time for us to all work together on this? I've set aside a budget, so that none of you need to pay for anything yourselves.

I feel a little torn. I kind of miss having a roommate, but at the same time I am glad that I don't have one. I don't know how much a roommate would like that in addition to Luna and Thumper, I came home with a couple of fish today.

So I just watched the first episode of the show I'm on awhile ago and all I can think about is how shitty the animation is.

That was some moon last night. I didn't see it myself, but I felt it, it even had me feeling a little unsteady at one point. But I kept it together, even managed to catch up on some ( reading )

I'm actually really digging the comic series. I'm not in it, so it's like hearing about the 'adventures' that happened before I met up with everyone.

I know it's silly, but I'm still frustrated by the fact that I couldn't use my phasing to get into the Tower during that weird situation. What good is it having an ability like mine if something makes it so that I'm sitting on the sidelines useless while other people are getting hurt?
