The Doorway: a panfandom game

The cube must know something I don't. Because I got a call after leaving my paralegal training for the day that something arrived for me and I'm wearing it as we speak.

I got the chain with my late mother's wedding band and a film reel charm, the same one I bought after Randy died. Her ring is huge but the charm is major, its all I really have left of him beyond his rules for surviving a horror movie routine.

When I got pulled here even the idea of doing something like signing up for a date auction would have been crazy. But maybe its a sign I'm actually breaking free and able to just be normal?

Its strange but its like I'm partly dreading and partly looking forward to the holidays for a change.

I've secured employment through a temp agency. They seemed quite impressed with my typing speed. I start Monday as a secretary. It's not quite as exciting as traveling with the Doctor, but it will do for now.

For the first time since the whole saga started I actually had a great Halloween! Sure there was one semi curious customer but I've gotten used to that. Beyond that and only one spilled beer things were perfect. I even could stop looking over my shoulder around the halfway point beyond avoiding crashing into servers.

And yes I was the 90's grunge girl, tiny nod to my time period and can easily be tossed into a washer.

But now its back to reality but dirt cheap candy awaits.

Thanks for being patient with me the last few weeks. Being from a horror series during Halloween is bad enough but I'm starting to smile a lot more as I face my own ghosts.

Problem solved costume wise for Sam's on Halloween.

I'm thinking 90's grunge groupie. Not only a nod to my past but can simply be washed in case of spills.

I guess you probably have noticed or will notice the decor that we've got up courtesy of me and Piper. Like it? Well, we're about to get even crazier (but still keep it organized, though, not too crazy, you know) for Halloween. My sister and I can, however, understand if there's some aspects of Halloween and scary movies, etc. etc. that people might NOT want to see. We're keeping everything at the whole awesome-pumpkins, orange-and-black-things-and-other-innocuous-things level but if there's anything any of you want to specifically not see and feel like it's best to tell us now, you can filter me and Piper privately and let us know.

Otherwise, get ready to enjoy Halloween at Sam's! There will be awesome themed drinks (Annabelle's great at those, seriously) and probably costumes.

Anyone else going to have any trouble making it into work until this shit gets sorted out?

Work (both the office and Sam's) is my escape right now. October means horror movies and well given my source I'm pretty wary at the moment.

But I started my paralegal classes this week and may have finally found something to keep my afloat while working on a degree.

One small perk of working in a law office: nobody has asked about the movies yet. Being told I could be a younger version of Neve Campbell however was cute (I'm sure he was hitting on me too).

But I also now see I need a life beyond school, the office and Sam's. So since I'm off tomorrow anyone want to go out for coffee?

Any lawyers or anyone along those lines up for tutoring? I'm signing up for paralegal training and can use a refresher course on basic law from a more practical POV.

And can anyone ID a piece of music? My boss was playing this at the office and I'm simply curious about who performs or writes it.

You asked for updates and here's the next one: I signed up for paralegal training starting early next month. With going to college part time/online it just makes more sense to have something stable while I plug away at a degree. So its now 3 days a week at work and 2 days a week in school.

I can't believe I'm even asking this, but, is anyone else out there nervous because their tv show is coming back on?

I've made a decision about the near future, small but its a starting point.

I finally signed up for the next session of paralegal training. It turns out I can still take part time college classes (just getting pre-requisites out of the way for now) and basically stay afloat at the same time, all while keeping my own mental history in mind.

But I could do without the questions about Ghostface but I'll accept it. At least at Sam's its question free which is nice.

Is anyone else involved in a Fantasy Football league? Or perhaps enjoy football? Season started this week, properly. So far I'm doing all right at the one at work. I'm winning for now.

On a topic unrelated to yesterday's events, I am pleased to discover someone else is studying the law. Unfortunately, its delivery and ensuing events have worn off much of the name. Should you be a paralegal studying the criminal penal code or were attempting to be, I have your books. Currently, I am not in the tower, but I shall make sure you receive them promptly.

I'm giving notice to the agency tomorrow aka I got a decent job!

Its just 3 afternoons a week for a law office but its stable, the pay is good and I'll be able to go back to school at the same time. Add in the night job tending bar (aka the keeping me social and not becoming a hermit part) and maybe just maybe things are looking up.

Hey folks. We've had a few staff changes lately and a couple new employees, so I was thinking we could have a staff meeting soon. Nothing formal, just a chance to get to know each other and try some of the new beers I've got coming in. I'm also two months out from our one-year anniversary at Sam's, so I'll be expecting a lot out of everyone as I try to figure out what the hell to do for the anniversary.

Two Sundays from now, September 8, 9 am? We can open late to give us a couple hours.
