The Doorway: a panfandom game

My friend Kenny is gone, and it's a really strange. I know I had friends who left in the past, but I don't remember any of it. This feels new to me, and it sucks.

You know what I'm thinking right now?

Now that we have Black Friday and Cyber Monday, if I do all my shopping online today, does that make it Cyber Friday? Or Black Cyber Friday?

So let's culturally appropriate some wizards. If you were a Harry Potter wizard (and are not a Harry Potter wizard), what House would you be sorted into?

I'm pretty sure Steve Rogers doesn't have to take this test, because he probably invented Hufflepuff, but what about the rest of you?

It's Gryffindor, for me. Which, probably the red and gold armour should have been my first clue.

Today has become one of those -- you know, controversial days. Remembering veterans, remembering those that fought and died - that's important. But I don't think, in 2015 we should overlook the imperial and colonial implications of war, and the crimes against humanity committed by even the winning sides.

So we're right to be conflicted. But wars have always had a very, very human face. And as much as today is about peace, ending war, it's also got to be about the individuals who fought because it was right, because they were called upon to do so, and because it was their duty. Looking back, gaining perspective, it's not always kind to those soldiers, but today, let's do a little, give a little, and support a little a community of men and women that need it and who are all too often forgotten, no matter their sacrifice.

With that in mind, today I've got a few things lined up with the NYCVA. They're be a few talks, and you're all invited, as well as some workshops out at the Legion in Brooklyn with some of the local vets.

Tonight though, I'm going to be back at Sam's Bar, holding a get together for refugees, particularly those who've been in wars or conflicts that aren't known to this universe. It'll be a place to talk, to share experiences and to to remember the people who were important to you.

Can't believe I got friends still sore over last Monday's game. [Monday, October 6th, 1941]. Dodgers didn't have a chance, since them Yankees got Dimaggio. It's the fifth win in six years. Might as well just hand 'em the World Series early, let everyone go home. Ain't no surprises there, ain't no point rooting for the underdog.

Sorry to say it, Rogers. I mean I'm sorry to say it. But those Brooklyn Dodgers were deader than a U-boat off Boston, for that game even started. And you still owe me three dollars for it.

Jane Foster needed no prize to make the world aware of her greatness. But we'll be celebrating her and Erik Selvig in any case.

Good Lord, this poor fellow is certain trying, but the fact is, he's useless as a butler. He even struggled with the vacuum cleaner, yesterday. I wonder if Mr Stark wasn't hired out of pity.
