Nothing crossing the desks here at the office that seem related to your missing friend. Any news on your end? You know, before you get TOO comfortable in Italy while some of us stay here.

[El]
Two people in the office today sick and I've been feeling a tickle in my throat. Not a good sign. I think I'm going to drown myself in orange juice this weekend and hope for the best.

I think Loverboy said it best, way back in the early 80s. We're "working for the weekend." Some time off is just the thing I need right now.

Ain't right. Got on the network this mornin to tell you all I went ahead and got the ranch. Hour outside of town, gorram sight more like home than this metal & stone tower they got us all crammed up in.

Zoe and Wash done good, brought home a helicopter needin some work. Kaylee, thinkin that'll be just the thing to get you too and from your government job once you get it up and runnin. Thinkin Wash even got hisself volunteered to lend a hand.

Cept all I see was some note about Jayne disappearin, so instead I went and kicked a few walls, shot a few cans. Ain't right, this happenin to us over'n over. I'm gonna be out tearin down a few walls, rebuildin some things on the ranch. Good distraction if any of you find yourself of a mind to need it.

Settin up another poker night this Saturday night. Same rules as always, lemme know if you're in.

On Friday, I am going to Canada with Grantaire. I am afraid the Forecast looks rather grim, but I do hope to spend some time absorbing the city. I do wish it were warmer

Combeferre, is there is anything Canadienne you would like for me to bring back for you, please do let me know. I am still sorry you are not yet well enough to go with us.

FILTERED TO PETER & ELIZABETH BURKE AND NEAL CAFFREY:
Peter, try to keep yourself contained, but Neal and I are taking a vacation to Ravello, Italy this coming weekend.

I have no plants to water or fish to feed, this is more of an informational post. Try not to get into too much trouble while we're gone.

As you may have noted from the alert, Diana apparently returned through the device that brought us here. At least I hope that's what happened and they aren't secretly selecting some of us to sacrifice to an Elder God and----- okay, all these comic book heroes are making me think I already miss having her around and it's still not the same without Jones. The White Collar agents here just aren't as enthusiastic about their work.

This feels a lot like my 10 year old self writing fan mail to the address at the back of a comic book, but here goes: Dear Cap, this is a horrible idea and I'm not going to bother you

My hat's off to whomever pranked the elevators this morning. Well executed, I'm just glad I wasn't already carrying a coffee.

Dance -- ballet, in particular -- is more physically strenuous than one would think just by watching. By no means was their en pointe (leastways not from me) but I feel as though I can pretty successfully say I'll pull out the ladder for the high shelves.

Walter, if I spill anything on you, I'm sorry. But I think your hair might even benefit from a linseed treatment.

Again, thank you for introducing me to new experiences.

As much as I love the city, and I typically love cold weather, I'd kill for a tropical vacation.

FILTERED TO NEAL CAFFREY:
Please tell me you're getting up to some kind of shenanigans, Caffrey? You're never this quiet without a reason.

I'm so painfully bored it's not even funny.

Natives and adopted children of New York, be congratulated on a most extraordinary cosmopolis. I have not seen or dreamt the like; I cannot say whether it pleases me as a whole, for I have not seen the smallest corner, but it is quite alive and blinding-brilliant no matter what the eventual opinion I form.

I thought I might have gone home when the light came, but as a particularly interesting poet of my own time wrote:

Να εύχεσαι νάναι μακρύς ο δρόμος. Pray that the road is long. There is a danger inherent in taking such words fragmented and out of their proper context, and I encourage you to explore Mr. Cavafy's Ithaka upon your own terms, but this advice is something that I am endeavouring to live, today: the world is wide, and full of wonder.

As for a more practical sort of introduction: my name is Isabel Pole and it will be my pleasure to meet you all, by and by.

There's something different about the carpets in our hallway this morning. I may be in the minority here, but I like it.

This is just embarrassing. Not only will it not hold up to the mildest of scrutiny, but you've officially attracted insects. I guess if you're going for a certain artistic "look", then all bets are off, but otherwise... sloppy and sad.

Put me with the others suffering from DST. Maybe I'm just cranky.

My birthday is only six days away.

Has anyone figured out how birthday's really work here? Cause I mean it was a different time of year when I left. But I guess it still counts, right? I would really like to finally be 14. Does it mean I'm older than I'm supposed to be back home?

Ugh this makes my head hurt. Whatever, I'm going to be 14 no matter what... weird other things might say.

My initial entry on this network was not so much a wash as a shamble. Thanks to those of you who were affable enough to respond with kindness. After only having been here for hours, I had not yet convinced myself that this new reality ... well. Suffice it to say I'm glad to be alive here. New York City has something of London, despite all its contemporary glitz.

If I am to be here for any amount of time, I have determined that I am not cut out for work such as I did at Sibleys and Arrowsmiths -- at least for now. Perhaps, if Sothebys comes knocking, I could entertain them ... but for now, I'm to clerk at Soho Art Materials. It'll be quiet work and it will be good to have a schedule.

Good morning to the lot of you.

I think I've found the best coffee shop in all of this version of Manhattan. Ninth Street Espresso, if you're interested. Small menu, smaller venue, and made the traditional way. Assolutamente perfetto!

Went into work yesterday (yes, on a Sunday; I'll wait for the shock to die down).

Are we good? All right: I went into work yesterday and it was a skeleton crew. Well, Ryan, this kid who sits near me and works with alkaline, mostly - he's into paper restoration - he's always brown-bagged it. But yesterday he orders in from Felicito's for him and me. Told me about a new bike he'd purchased and was restoring. Was wearing a new coat. All the flashiest signs of Fast Money and Too Stupid to know how to keep it quiet.

Anyway. I poked, I prodded, I showed him a trick with the Mylar enclosure to cut down on his works' acclimation time. Seems there's some street-job recruiting those with a chemistry background for a little after-hours work. It's gotta be big-time with the green he's flashing, but he wouldn't introduce me to anyone. I think he likes lining his own pen.

I think I'm going to show off a dusty skill-set or two and see if I get any bites.

Brussels! I've got some options for us. Some are more promising than others.

- Manon Peeters: owns a B&B in the center of the city. Big fan of the show. Shockingly normal. I've looked up pictures of the B&B and it looks decent enough.

- Camille Janssens: has a townhouse downtown that looks great. Marble counters, her father's in the wine business, very posh. Has a stipulation that I'm not allowed to wear a shirt while on her property, so I vote no.

- Léa Wouters: will be out of town the next week to visit her boyfriend in Germany. Sounds ideal, right? She made the point of mentioning she has cameras in every room in her house. I don't know if that's her being careful about thieving or if she just likes to watch.

For the record, I'm still fine with smiling our way into a Four Star and seeing where it gets us.
