I've avoided reading the books that are my 'source material' or whatever the hell you want to call it. Walking by the bookstore I saw another one was released, focusing on events that happened over a century before I was actually born. It's tempting. Did Magnus like glitter then as much as he does now? Important questions.

You know, back home, things would be starting to get really messy right about now. Angel killing Jenny Faith going all Mistress of the Dark. Spike confessing his My mom. Tara dy Tara. Dawn. The Preacher coming to town. Hell would get all mouthy.

And I've gotta say... it didn't really make sense how it was all on such a strict schedule - follow the school year, which is coincidentally the television schedule year. But MAN did my face get egged when I got here.

Question, though:

If the show was based on me, and I'm the one all the bad, rotten luck follows, the whole FORMAT doesn't follow me, right? I'm not jinxing myself here?

This is not home. Bolin is not here. Nobody is here

They told me this was the United States. I had never heard of such a place before, and indeed, no such place exists in the maps of where I'm from. The land is shaped differently here, and none of where I'm from is here. There is no Fire Nation, no Earth Kingdom, no Air Nomads, no Water Tribes, and no United Republic. I had hoped the United States was just another name given outside Republic City to the United Republic, but that isn't the case. This New York City isn't anything like Republic City. I don't quite understand these devices either.

I'm Mako, and I am very far from home. And Bolin is not here

The books written about my world are scarily accurate but there are at least 746,500,000 moments in my life that were lived but never written about and I'm sure the same can be said for the rest of us refugees.
