Also, sunburnt. And freezing at the same time, now that I'm back in New York. I already miss the beach.

It's a huge time difference to that part of Russia so we're going to arrive at night and enjoy the night life, woo! :D We'll leave when we're ready to leave or in time to get back for Sam's pre-wedding stuff, whichever comes first.

Sam hasn't run away yet, so I guess this wedding is happening, and the bachelor party is on for Tuesday night. If Sammy wasn't a giant wuss, we'd be bar hopping and hanging out with so many strippers we forget what clothes look like, but he is, so we're stuck with him.

The guy's not picky. You all know that. He'll probably just want to hang out with a few beers and all his friends so he forgets to have cold feet about the day of. Don't dress up, is what I'm saying. Bring some stories about that one time he and Veronica were cute. If you know him at all, you know what a big deal this thing with Veronica is for him.

If any of you fucks this next week up for him, they will never find you. Just so you know.

So I was considering what to get Titan for Christmas, and I found this.

Next month, I will turn 18 and gain more rights in this society. I'm coming up with a to do list, to revise as needed before then. If you have recommendations or thoughts, please give them.

1. Register to vote. That anti-powers senator was elected this November, and I will not allow that in the future without participating in their system of governance. Sometimes a king or queen would be better.
   
2. Take the private investigator exam (February 2). I've been studying since I joined X-Factor this summer.
   
3. Register for bail enforcement courses. It's the closest license I've seen for avenging.
   
4. Obtain a driver's license. It is easier then.
   
5. Get an adult passport. Fewer restrictions.
   
6. Do something irresponsible. I haven't decided what.

I plan on adding a bail enforcement course to my coursework this spring. It's not quite a vigilante license, but it will allow me to legally fight crime. With the uproar about those teenagers who failed at being avengers and becoming legally responsible for my actions, it's a decent choice. If it manages to actually help pay for college, all the better, but I'm not doing it for money. I'll be able to do it regardless, but as my mother and my advisor, what are your thoughts?

It's no wonder that today seems to drag on forever. Not that my classes are boring, by any means. I'm just ready to be back at the room.

Did you all see that they're making Toy Story 4? As if the 3rd movie wasn't heartbreaking enough. I wonder what the odds are of any of them turning up here. I'd like to meet Jessie, she's my favorite. I should have dressed up as her for Halloween instead of going as myself. Oh well. Next year.

Calling all Nerf War, Laser Tag and Capture the flag enthusiasts! (Public filter)

As part of the Military Tactics and Strategy class I teach, I like to bring a practical aspect to the course. This weekend (November 8-9) we'll be hosting war games out at Serenity Ranch. Think nerf war meets laser tag meets capture the flag. The students suggested opening it up to the entire ESD, so that's what we're doing. We'll be leaving early Saturday morning and coming back Sunday afternoon. There will be a bonfire and cookout Saturday night as well. You can sign up here. No prior experience is necessary.

All are welcome.

While the games will be geared towards the students, adults are welcome as chaperones, to help with setup, and to toss in some variables into the war games.

Well, attempts to make our own cider have begun at the ranch. Never thought I'd be able to say that. I suppose it's good that you're never too old to try and learn something new.


I try to keep up on space news while I'm here. Can't quite leave it behind. Mars just got buzzed by a comet. While the tech here is still a ways off from what we were capable of, I'm impressed by how far things are moving along.

We've done a fair about of classroom activity for this course and I wanted to know if any of you would be up for a tactics war game of sort. Perhaps a weekend event. We could do it either as just our class or open it up to other. It'd be like the nerf war but with more strategy and challenge.

It's funny the things you realize when planning a wedding. For instance, that almost all of my closest friends are women.

I have to admit groomspeople doesn't sound quite as catchy as groomsmen, but I can't think of a better way of putting it. [...] Even the groom part doesn't seem like a real word anymore.

So I'm 17 now. My birthday just recently passed. I didn't really expect it to feel different than any other birthday.. I mean, I didn't tell anyone because between trying to figure out the polymorph thing and classes, it actually slipped my mind. And it's not like I have my family here to wake me up with samosas and ragullas for breakfast (yes, that's a pretty fattening breakfast, it shouldn't be a surprise that South Asians have high cholesterol and high blood pressure), but I guess that's just it. They're not here. And it turned out that this birthday was different than other birthdays because they weren't here. And I miss my mom. No matter how many times I call her "crazy protective". :(

Cassie is GONE! She's one of my best friends here and here so long but she's GONE!
