......this whole parenting thing would be easier if I were allowed to have an IV of coffee. I thought I'd be ready for this, sleep deprivation is part of being a cop.

I was wrong. There's no twelve hours of uninterrupted sleep after a long case. There's a feeding every three or four hours, and a diaper change. And comfort cuddles.

I dozed off while staring into the fridge yesterday. The fridge. And I still don't know what I went into the kitchen for in the first place.

Yes, that will be me, missing breakfast with you for most of this week, unless you want to have it at a ridiculously early hour. We're finalizing plans for surgery with Major Danvers, so between tests and discussions with Director Brand and Dr. Strange and the rest of the team we'll have working on this, it's going to be a long, very lonely week. I can't even promise you all of tomorrow, as I'll be in for at least part of the day, ordering tests and making sure we have the good operating theater.

River's been suffering from nightmares. That's not abnormal, but from what she's willing to say it seems almost like she's picking up these thoughts from other people here. Memories, fears, other experiences that don't belong to her.

I know you know that she's expressed some ... abilities, regarding her levels of perception, to the point where some of you think she's psychic. I don't know what I think about that.

I've asked River to write down what she experiences, in some attempt to see if we can find people who ... match the nightmares, I suppose. I'd just ask that if you're with her and you notice any unusual behavior - more unusual than usual - you tell me.

Many congratulations to both victors in today's tournament, and to Shale in particular, who proved herself to be a worthy adversary. My uncle would have liked you, I'm certain of it.
