I can appreciate a clever opportunist. I shall say right now that I think The Pet Shop Boys are some of the greatest philosophers of the modern age. I certainly know how to spin just about any situation into money, the world helps those who help themselves. I'll never begrudge any poor chap from getting their due if they're smart enough to either work for it or are smart enough to have other people do the work for them.

However, as the man who usually has the schemes or inclinations, I was quite taken aback when I was approached over the weekend by the Morgan Library with something ingenious. It would seem that Pierpont Morgan, the devil, purchased the oldest surviving manuscript of The Picture of Dorian Gray back in 1913. Someone at the museum (who I hope gets a raise for this) suggesting dragging out the old manuscript and printing it as a facsimile -- which even by itself would, I'm sure, line the museum's pockets pleasantly. But they wish to take it a step further and have me submit notes, edits, commentary and insight. And why the hell not, I say? It isn't every day a man gets to tackle on a biography that features his own gruesome end.

And if this goes off without a hitch and I remain comfortable kept in this fine city for the next eight months or so, I'll be one of the richest bastards on the Eastern seaboard. So it's something to consider, my beautiful literary companions. Seize the fucking day -- but if a damn one of you publishes before I do, I will slit you'll be hearing from my lawyer.

Six months in this place and I am beginning to wonder if I will return to my own reality and time any time soon. I have begun to live as if I will not be as there are many here who have been here longer than I have been and perhaps I can do work within this century and reality that will bring something beneficial to this time.

While the memories of this place may not travel with us when we leave, as demonstrated in Kathryn Janeway's time here, removal, and return, our own memories are certainly accessible here and now. A recent altercation in Potts Tower has reminded me in a very visceral way of this reality. A hallucinogenic gas was pumped into the Tower and left many of us in a highly charged state where we were left with our deepest fears.

It has left me wondering what will happen if the Borg should come through the tesseract. Without the powers of their ship an individual drone might cause difficulty, but should be able to be taken down and perhaps returned to an individual rather than a member of the collective. This has given me reason to think if I ought to rethink my position regarding joining SHIELD.

We're having a Video Game mixer this weekend at the Youth Center for anyone interested in coming and gaming. Open to all ages, just a bit of fun and to help open up some interest. Not that I blame anyone for not coming around much this week, but now that school's started I'd love to see it as an afternoon spot people could come if they like, just to do homework or hang out with friends. I've spent some time this past weekend trying to make the game room a bit more cozy and fun, and there's a new coke machine I think you'll all enjoy.

I was out for a few days but have no fear, things are running smoothly yet again.

Also, Hal Mason is gone, for those that are friends. I hadn't seen him for a few days and when I came to check he had returned to his world. I wish him well and hope he's safe.

The Warriors Three and I have found a new occupation for ourselves. There is a sport called Parkour and it is ever so entertaining. The Midgardians we sported with were quite impressed with our athleticism and skills, particularly when I vaulted over a moving elevated train. It was quite enjoyable. I think I shall partake in it again.

Seeing as we had a few more fish regress over the weekend I took the liberty of euthanizing two of them and, working up histology and genetic profiles for both. I'm still running tests, but the preliminary results are positive? confusing? I suppose complicated.

It seems only fish with a specific mutation are the ones reverting, so, I would think, Pepper, that you might be in the clear on this matter. But histology shows a strange pattern on the tissue level. Jean, I've dropped the images on the Medical server.

Anyway, I was talking with one of the like big museum guys and he was talking about maybe us doing tours? Like for school groups or whatever. I mean we've a bit of a unique outlook on Ancient Egypt and all and I thought it might be cool but I'd need my favorite nerd brother to back me.

I got the job! Holy cow, I'm going to work for a lawyer. That's about ten times more prestigious than working for Old Navy (no offense, your clothing return policies are great!) and much nicer-smelling than working as a receptionist at a tuna factory (phew!)

I've gone and gotten a job! They gave me a name tag and everything. Has my name on it. Printed it out on this little machine. Novel. Loved having a name tag before. It's so helpful! I don't even have to introduce myself. Brilliant. Makes me wonder if I should just wear one all the time.
