Though some of you are not SHIELD agents, I hope that everyone involved respects the importance of what SHIELD does enough to not publicly discuss anything you might have overheard or seen last night.

I'm going to need everyone not affiliated with SHIELD to set up a time between 0900 and 1100 or 1300 and 1630 for a debriefing. It shouldn't take long, and we'll provide transportation should you require it.

November is four months away, and that means that I have been here for a year. This has definitely been one of the most interesting (almost) years I've had. For a while I used to wish that my mum or dad would show up, now I think it's for the best. I know it can't be controlled, and I'll deal with it if and when the time comes, but for now all I can hope is that my family is doing okay. Tony, I'm sure is growing up so fast and I do wish that I could get to know my little brother.

Have you been hiding all this time?

Last night, we successfully stopped the man behind the Mandarin, the terrorist behind the events that have rocked communities across the world for months. I won't say it's over, because our job is never over, but for right now, we can rest easy knowing that this man will not be able to cause harm to anyone again. You'll all be hearing a lot about it over the next few days and weeks, but I wanted you to hear from me as soon as I could. I can tell you with certainty that he will not be getting up to terrorize anyone again.

This isn't over, however. The effects of what he has done will last, and the innocent civilians caught in the middle of his twisted lessons need help moving forward just as they needed help last night, when people were set upon their cities with intent to destroy.

Tony and Pepper are both well alive as well, however given the events of the past few weeks, it may be some time before either of them are feeling up to leaving a message here. I hope everyone will give them some much needed privacy right now. They need it.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate everything you all have done to put an end to this reign of terror, to assist the victims, and to support those of us in the midst of this crisis in whatever way you have. I will not forget everything you've done, and I fully intend on thanking each of you individually as soon as I can.

I went to Russia with a group of people on a mission and I left it because SHIELD called me back. Some people got hurt. Nothing life threatening, but they still got hurt and I might have been able to help prevent that. I put SHIELD obligations before everything else. I thought I could balance being SHIELD and an Avenger, that I could make them work together. The truth is I was letting the team fall apart, or at the very least not doing enough to keep us acting like a team. Then yesterday happened and it felt right. It also made me realize that for a bit I think I gave up. I did give up, but now I want to fix it and I’m afraid it might be too late.

Any advice?

More importantly - we have some really wonderful people here who did a great deal of work to help keep us (and the rest of the world) safe. And it's quite easy to lose your head while doing that. Surprisingly so!

So I would just like to take a moment to give thanks to everyone who helped out the past few days - from Tony Stark and Pepper Potts, to Avengers from all worlds, to the people who have skills with computers, to the very kind lady who offered me tea. Thank you! I know it wasn't easy, and I know that everyone has their differences, but in the end, no one from the Tower was assassinated, and I consider that a very good day!

The nightmare of the last few weeks is finally over (and quite happily so) and I'm ready to go back to reclaiming my life post Olaf. That also includes going back to the salvage yard either tomorrow or Wednesday.

It may be over for now but recovery will be long and painful, the work never really ends and I plan on doing my part to lend a hand even now.
