Okay, so, sitting and filling out papers for the NYPD is incredibly boring and it makes me think of when I had to do it the first time, and it makes me miss my kids. My ex was pregnant with our oldest at the time. Now she's almost thirty and I'm wondering where the time went.

I was waylaid by a couple of people at work who wanted to talk about the game I'm from. It was a very strange experience. Apparently it's possible in the game to go through slaughtering everyone you meet. I was actually rather appalled. It's certainly not what I did. Although I'll readily admit that my skill set is well suited for an assassin, I am the Lord Protector. My job is not to kill the people of Dunwall (unless they are a direct threat to the Empress of course) but to protect the Empress. I was told that Samuel is disgusted and turns on me if the wholesale slaughter path is taken. Good. Samuel is a good man.

It was very strange to discover that people can play, well, me in that way. I didn't even kill Daud though there were other reasons for that than not wishing to kill an innocent citizen of Dunwall. Daud was hardly innocent. I'm sure he wakes with a start at night these days, wondering if I've been in his home and when I might choose to end his life.

Last night, I watched Apollo 13.

You are a magnificent people.

In my line of work, astronomy is (or was, I should say - perhaps was) a practical pursuit. For the purposes of navigation, a knowledge more than casual of the stars is was essential, and with particularly close attention a man could gain an advantage for himself that his less studious colleagues might not have. Not to call myself studious - God knows I was a hopeless layabout at about half my subjects, and my skull was too think for the other half to pass through. I took to mathematics and astronomy with pleasure, which is the only reason I came close to excelling at them. All of this to say, I've always taken a personal joy in that field, more than was required for professional advancement, and to live among a people who would put forth such a herculean effort, accomplish such a feat of genius, endure such a host of unknown dangers as to go to the stars -

I consider it a great privilege. Very great, indeed.

Now, having always had a particular interest in the moons of Jupiter, I'm keen to follow all this business with Europa. Exciting, ain't it? Fascinating. And rousing, damned rousing to live in a time when you have the tools to do more than sit around, stare up at the sky, and speculate.

So, let's pretend I'm an orphan from a dystopic future in which all these random holidays didn't exist.

Now pretend I got tossed back in time to a place where my dad is alive and well and, oh yeah, there's two versions of him. I call one dad and the other Clint but they're both still dad.

BUT THEN I'm told about something called father's day which is normally celebrated because the past has a multitude of holidays I've never really heard of or celebrated before.

So, with all that in mind, what am I supposed to do for them? What should I get my dad? What's a normal gift for a 16 year old to give the dads who didn't know he existed until a couple of months ago for father's day?

Meet Fred and George, your friendly neighborhood mood-picker-ups. Apparently, they're the best cure for a crappy day at work. Makes me want to get two myself but I'm pretty sure an apartment with three brothers who need be told to tame themselves is crowded enough to begin with.
