I didn't sleep very well last night, loaded up on caffeine this morning, got bored, and found my way into the kitchen. I ended up making three dozen and a huge mess, so if anyone wants one, or two, or however many, my room is 1403.

I have been taking advantage of the New York library's generous lending policy. It seems the only limit is really how many I can physically carry! There is so much for me to catch up on and while I truly marvel at the internet, I still feel more comfortable with a book. Though I do like the look of these ebook readers. They seem terribly convenient.

I'm not sure I understand the fuss everyone is making over the Super Bowl. From what I've read it seems to be some kind of sporting event, but the way people talk about it you'd never know. Are sports always treated as a matter of life or death here?

If I am from a book, or one of the other entertainments that are offered in this world, how might I go about finding out? And how might I go about discovering the history of the world since 1824? There's so much I don't know and I hate feeling ignorant, especially when those around me know so much.

Well I have to say SHIELD seem to know what they're doing. They're definitely on the ball when it comes to administrating the arrival of new people. My guys could learn something I'm sure.

At least they have a kind of military here so I won't be too lost - as long as I get through the training that is. I've been told nobody else from my world is here - I just hope they're all okay.

There is one singular thing in this world that I find most incredibly baffling.

Just what is it with all the pants? It seems it's all anyone wears here. Finding a decent set of robes seems impossible and fabrics in general seem to be mystifyingly thin for the climate. And there's so much black. I suppose I should count myself lucky that I'm not a man that would feel beholden to his clothing section. You poor lads have the most depressing selection. No variety at all. We had more in the tower and that's just sad.

Nevermind that there's not an enchanter from here to Asgard which is very depressing. Shame Sandal couldn't follow me here.

I can't believe it's almost New Years! I know there has to be something fun going on, because it's NEW YORK, but the question is what? Is there anything going on here in the tower or should I go looking outside of the building for a good party?
