And to think that my cousin sometimes thinks he is actually an adult.

"Ñoldor" is a strange name for a race of elves who lack all wisdom. More and more I begin to believe that any wisdom I have comes from my mother and my grandmother.

War Veterans Meeting

So I've got two announcements for you gents and ladies.

I've been in some talks with the folks over here at the Legion, (Post #398) because I thought we might get on well with those old boys and take up a few seats during their impromptu Jazz nights. With $5 beers and $8 dinners I really don't think a one of us should refuse -- so they're be expecting us to pop in from time to time. I know I plan to make it one of my usual haunts, no word of a lie.

Originally, I was thinking we could just go there for our Veterans nights, -- but, being a "refugee" and seeing that we're all from different backgrounds and battles, I though we ought to meet apart from the Legion, just so's we aren't imposing too much, and because I know not all of us fought in American wars.

With that in mind, I did some looking around, fell upon The Clover Club and thought that might be right for us. They take Reservations Sunday-Thursday, so I booked us in for April 11th.

Hope to see you.

It saddens me very much that one some of the Eldar here have done a great deal to tarnish our reputation. We are not all that way, I assure you. We do not all scorn people of different Fates. In fact, I have been greatly bettered in my life by my associations with dwarves, Men, and Elves of all sorts.

Please allow me to introduce myself, to those of you who may not know. My name is Finrod Felagund. I am the eldest son of Arafinwë, who is currently High King of the Ñoldor in Valinor. I served for a time as King of Nargothrond, but an oath pulled me from my home and I sadly hear that it has fallen into despair in my absence.

I should very much like to speak with all of you, and get to know some of you, perhaps as friends. I will gladly answer any questions you may have about myself, and my people. I have no secrets, and wish very much for understanding between our peoples.

The mages who came to collect me after that blue light told me that I'm not actually dead, which is honestly a miracle after everything I went through yesterday, but I've never heard of this realm before.

Anyway, my name is Daine, and I apologize if my responses are ever slow or look strange. I'm still learning this typing business. At least I won't ever get another bottle of ink knocked over and spilled on my clothes with this method.

The apple appears between olive leaves
Splash of red in the green of summer fields
It brings young men to their knees

A thunder clap that moves the trees
Dreams in the distance remain concealed
The apple appears between olive leaves

Smoke swept away by the warm breeze
All spirits broken remain unhealed
It brings young men to their knees

Truths in which they all believe
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield
The apple appears between olive leaves

Hearts adorned on brass buttoned sleeves
Until away they soar in coffins sealed
It brings young men to their knees

A moment of silence but no reprieve
Fallen fruit in a deflowered field.
The apple appears between olive leaves
It brings young men to their knees

I have had a great deal of time for thought lately, and my mind always ventures back to those times when I made my most difficult decisions, and when I gave my hardest counsel. Aikanáro's decision not to wed Andreth was, of course, his own. I would never have forbid the union, no matter how little I disagreed with it. I was his brother, not his father, nor hers. But despite the sadness it caused both of them, I do not think I would have counseled either of them differently. Their pain would have been intensely worse had a marriage between them been allowed.

It was a time of war, even if we had been in a Watchful peace for some time, and our kind does not marry in times of war. With Aikanáro being the warrior that he was, this was even more crucial.

Secondly, though I do not doubt their love, I truly believe that marriages between the Eldar and the human race must be only allowed for reasons of the Highest Doom. They are not something to be entered into lightly, or without great thought.

Thirdly, Aikanáro's pain would certainly have been worse when she ultimately died after so short a time had he allowed himself to love her from anything other than afar.

It was difficult counsel, but I do not regret it.

It's rather strange, sitting in front of this screen and writing something in the hope that someone reads it - but this is what they told me I should do, and that it is a common way of communicating in this world. And I suppose it's no more strange than using the palantirs - not that I tried them much.

So if anyone really reads this - this is Galadriel speaking, Galadriel of the Golden Wood. If there's anyone from Middle-earth out there, I'd like to get in touch.

Oh, and some of you would know me better as Artanis. That's what I used until Celeborn named me Galadriel.

Gi suilon!

I have been speaking to my cousin, and I have decided that, in order to attempt to understand how Men live, and not stand out from them any more than I must, I am going to cut my hair short, human-style.

But instead of just cutting it on my own, I should like to attempt to raise donations for charity. So...I suppose humans do it this way - if I reach $500 - which will be donated to the Youth Center, no strings attached - I shall cut my hair short.

International Refugee Festival

Friends! The Displaced, the dispossessed and refugees all. I beg your attention for one moment that I might share an idea.

We have come from all different walks in life, alternate worlds, and in that way are we unfamiliar with each other beyond brief scatterings of knowledge found in printed, published or other media. And so I would like to take a moment to suggest an idea to change that.

My cousin and I propose an event for our Springtime season to promote knowledge, understanding and acceptance of our cultures and our worlds. I would like to design an international festival for all of us here so that we might come together in one place and show each other the pieces of our world that we the people feel represent us.

Have you any objects, items, lore on your person, in your rooms, or in your minds that you would share with us on one day then I bid you, join me and my cousin in planning this. I We would dearly love to learn of you. And I we should dearly love to share my our world with you as well.

It would be good, I think, to span universes and expand our knowledge of each other.

We welcome all! Large, small, old, and new.. to friendship and peace.

Ai, so March has come at last. Spring hastens, and the days will continue getting longer until they are at last longer than the nights. Trees will bud, blossoms will bloom, and animals will bear their young in a cacophony of life and renewal.

It is a glorious time of year, and one that is close to my heart. The air, I think, never smells sweeter than it does in the springtime, or is the world full of more hope.

What do Men of this world do to celebrate the awakening of the Earth after its winter slumbers? I am very curious and should greatly like to learn of your customs.

A recitation of "The Charge of the Light Brigade" is not necessary to give my opinion of heroism, though I have a great deal of appreciation for this bright young lady's openness. I thought I would perhaps share with you a few ways in which my country used a certain kind of heroism to lure young men who thought they'd look a god in kilts.
  • Take up the Sword of Justice.

  • Who's Absent?

  • Let's catch him with his 'PANZERS' down.

  • Together.

  • Destroy this mad brute.

  • Hero Land.

  • I think perhaps the word 'hero' (in my own world) is maudlin because it comes with so much baggage attached. I have never known a hero, I do not think. But I have known men and women who are quite heroic.

    I have perceived much beauty
    In the hoarse oaths that kept our courage straight;
    Heard music in the silentness of duty;
    Found peace where shell-storms spouted reddest spate.

    Nevertheless, except you share
    With them in hell the sorrowful dark of hell,
    Whose world is but a trembling of a flare
    And heaven but a highway for a shell,

    You shall not hear their mirth:
    You shall not come to think them well content
    By any jest of mine. These men are worth
    Your tears: You are not worth their merriment.

    WHEN Love with unconfinèd wings
    Hovers within my gates,
    And my divine Althea brings
    To whisper at the grates;
    When I lie tangled in her hair
    And fetter'd to her eye,
    The birds that wanton in the air
    Know no such liberty.

    When flowing cups run swiftly round
    With no allaying Thames,
    Our careless heads with roses bound,
    Our hearts with loyal flames;
    When thirsty grief in wine we steep,
    When healths and draughts go free—
    Fishes that tipple in the deep
    Know no such liberty.

    When, like committed linnets, I
    With shriller throat shall sing
    The sweetness, mercy, majesty,
    And glories of my King;
    When I shall voice aloud how good
    He is, how great should be,
    Enlargèd winds, that curl the flood,
    Know no such liberty.

    Stone walls do not a prison make,
    Nor iron bars a cage;
    Minds innocent and quiet take
    That for an hermitage;
    If I have freedom in my love
    And in my soul am free,
    Angels alone, that soar above,
    Enjoy such liberty.

    ~Richard Lovelace

    Now truly lovely this is! And poignantly appropriate for the day, as well. May all of you hold your love close to your hearts, and celebrate the beauty that finding the partner of your fëa brings.

    I do not think I am alone in stating that I fail to understand the true purpose of tomorrow's celebration. However, if ever we have needed an excuse to come together for merrymaking it would seem tomorrow would be it.

    We are a small people in this place and it would do us well to come together. Might we spend one evening where we are not fighting amongst ourselves?

    Can we go to the stores again? I'm tryin' to add pockets to this dress, but I might be doing it wrong, 'en after we go to the stores, can you help me add the pockets right?

    Is Maedhros still mad? Does he hate me? Can we read like you said earlier? All out loud and stuff?

    Filter to Maedhros
    Are you mad? Do you hate me? Look, I 'ent got nobody from my world here, 'en I'm glad that you do, cos it's really lonely here by myself, even if I do have Pan. It 'ent the same as having a real person or witch or bear from my world though, or even one of th'angels, 'en maybe something happened in your world that you hate all of mankind, but I 'ent them, and I like being around you, but if you're going to hate me, then that's your choice, I guess, 'en you should just tell me now, since that's the honourable thing to do, answering fair questions, at least, that's how I was taught, maybe you was taught different. 'En I'm sorry I was rude and went in on your conversation with Finrond, that wasn't right of me.

    I am in need of a clothier and a brief explanation of the currency in this realm. I disregarded such information upon my arrival. I suspect that in time I may come to learn of these things of my own accord. For now I am most blind.
