The Doorway: a panfandom game

You know, of all things that were once considered fireworks or could have been considered, I think the one that is simultaneously disappointing and relieving that you wouldn't find in stores today is the Pharaoh's Serpent. On one hand, how freaking awesome is that?! Like you have sparklers and Roman candles and then this thing which is like a bunch of tentacles reaching out from beneath the ground. On the other hand... mercury (II) thiocyanate being toxic means we stay safe especially when you have to be up close to watch that happen.

Thankfully, there are less chances now of fireworks killing us of mercury poisoning.. and of all my years in NYC, of memories of when doing fireworks on rooftops had not yet been considered illegal, I don't remember ever hearing of Pharaoh's Serpent being a thing so I guess we've always been a little safer.

This slightly morbid outlook on fireworks has been brought to you by Gwen and her empty stomach who are both waiting for stuff to cook at this BBQ.

I seem to spend a lot of time saying goodbye to people. Actually it's more like I don't have the chance to say goodbye to people. I got to say goodbye to Ronnie, I had to stand by and watch him die. Then I come here and after a few months of trying to talk myself out of it, I watched the show and discovered he wasn't dead after all. I'm here though and he isn't so all that knowledge does for me is make it hurt.

Now Felicity is gone. She was my last connection to home. I don't know Oliver and Sara that well, only through her. I guess I'm just feeling sorry for myself today. I try not to do that but sometimes I can't help it.

I entered a raffle for some things that came through the Tesseract and won a Star Trek red shirt uniform. Which is kind of funny since anyone who's seen the show knows what it means.

I'm going to save it for Cisco just in case he ever shows up. I keep hoping.

This looks interesting! I love a good mystery and the idea of an interactive play is almost genius. Tonight is the last night so I think I'll go. Anyone want to come with me?

Wow. So did the daycare release their charges or something? I don't remember seeing this many kids running around. Granted, I was busy adjusting, getting my stuff and figuring things out but...wow!

Well if this is what I have to look forward to in fifteen years, it could be worse. Is this something the Tesseract does often?

I'm your new housing assistant, Caitlin Snow, and I wanted to introduce myself. I live in 2510 with Felicity Smoak and either of us would be happy to help you with anything you need. There are several of you that I haven't met yet so sometime over the next few weeks, I'd like to host a get together so we can get to know each other. Last week was a difficult week, but I'm reminded of something Anne of Green Gables said, which is 'today is a new day with no mistakes in it'. And because I'm here in this tower, I can say that as someone who met her, and interacted with her, and even saw how she lived it - and you know, that's kinda cool.

I'm going to be honest, I still really miss my sister. But last week I was reminded how we treat each other like family in this tower, and so I'm kind of thinking we should impromptu picnic today. If you're interested, bring food, we'll wander over to Central Park and enjoy this brilliant weather and have food and stuff and I'm making three types of cookies, as well as my mom's potato salad, because thanks guys.

There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss Ronnie but days like today when it's beautiful outside and people are celebrating spring, enjoying their families....those days are the worst.

I think I've spent the past two weeks watching Star Trek Next Generation nearly full stop. That and pigging out on Pizza. I'm craving a salad now though. That or something else incredibly healthy. It's not like me to eat like that for so long.

What sort of sweating sickness did we all have this past week? Perhaps it was a miracle that we all survived.

Is it safe to leave my room? It desperately needs to be aired out and cleansed. Unfortunately, I...do not know anyone to assist with this yet. Mistress Anne, would you be available? Lady Caitlin Snow?

It's been a very long week but I'm glad that I had the chance to work with such a great team. Now I think I'll fall into my bed and sleep for the rest of the week.

To all of those who helped out in whatever capacities you could in the past few days, I would like to thank you.

You've all provided a selfless service to your fellow man. There's a lot we still don't know about what the Celestials wanted or how this happened, but I do know that this world is going to continue to need our help to recover.

Tomorrow morning at 0515, SWORD will be taking its vessel, the Ascension, to meet this fleet and argue the case for earth. While it does not appear to be essential that we go to meet them, it will show a stronger front to face them head on. This is a chiefly diplomatic mission, and any attempts at offense are inappropriate.
